FS2004 General Aircraft Monospar ST25 Universal, Ambulance aircraft

Version 1.0

By Jens B. Kristensen 2006

The G.A.L. Monospar was a series of ligth / utility aircraft built by General Aircraft Ltd in the 1930's. The ST.25 Universal was one of the last versions, with a twin tail and other improvements.

This model portrays a particular aircraft, c/n 95, built in 1937 as an air ambulance. It served for two years or so in England as a company demonstrator registered G-AYEF, before it was sold to the 'Zonen' salvage corps in Denmark as OY-DAZ. It served with 'Zonen' until 1950, being in storage 1943-47 because of a shortage of spares.

OY-DAZ still exists today, it is owned by the Danish National Museum of Technology in Elsinore (Helsingør in danish). It has been displayed in various places around Denmark over the years. I saw it in the 'Egeskov Veteranmuseum' when I was a boy, and again in 2005. It was hanging from the roof, so I couldn't get a look at the interior :-( . It has now, apparently, returned to Elsinore.

The Monospar had manual wing folding for hangar storage, and the model supports this - you must assign a key (such as shift+F) to the wing fold event in Flight Simulator to activate it.

----

Flying the Monospar: The aircraft is easy and pleasant to fly. For more detail, press F10 to view the electronic kneeboard, and select the reference tab. The general rule is 3200 rpm in climb, 3000-3100 rpm in cruise.

----

The panel uses default gauges of Flight Simulator 2004. A few gauges are by myself, based on default gauges by Microsoft.

----

Installation: Just run the included setup program

----

This plane was made with FSDS 3.0. It is freeware and must stay that way.

Good luck flying the GAL Monospar!
