C-GCTJ, Cessna 172 with semi Photo-realistic Panel for FS98....yep, for those of us who still preferr it...

April, 2001.

C-GCTJ is run by the Billy Bishop Flying Club, Billy Bishop Regional Airport, Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. I learned to fly mostly in this plane, first solo, flight test etc, so I thought I would virtualise her for posterity.

The original aircraft is designed by Chris Lampard, I take no credit whatsoever here, I'm just a lowly painter. I could not contact Chris, but I gather from other repaints I have read this one would also be OK with him.

Included is a custom panel modified by an original by Steve Hayes to look almost exactly as the original in CTJ. I was unable to contact Steve, but I gathered from the information with his panel that this was permissible and if you read this Steve, thanks for a great panel and I trust this was OK.

I also took the liberty of adding a few gauges for which I dont know who to give credit, suffice to say I take none whatsoever.

CTJ has a Loran C installed, this one has Alain Capt. GPS which is not included in this download so you will need to get his latest family of GPS gauges (At SurClaro) installed separately. Most of us have them already anyway.

There are a few differences from the real plane, such as ADF and VOR2 which I had to keep as a second nav/com in this in order for them to function. CTJ has a built in VOR2 and the old style mechanical ADF. The Nav/com radio however, is identical. Other than that, just a few very minor gauge placement changes to keep them visible.

Installation:-

Simple and staightforward.
Unzip gauges into FS98 gauges folder.
Cut and Paste the folder 172CTJ into the FS98 aircraft folder.
Sound will default to the C182 unless you change it as desired.
Thats it.

FS98 Scenery of Owen Sound and surrounding area is available in files OSair.zip and OSdyndk.zip.

Panel Notes:-

1. There is a fuel switch at lower middle to emulate turning on fuel to L, R or both tanks.
2. It is IMPORTANT to have the "magnetos" option in "Aircraft Settings" disabled. This enables the ignition switch to start the engine and the magnetos do work the same.
3. There is a "Y" in lower right corner, clicking here toggles the yokes off and on view.
4. Clicking on the navcom radio top left emulates switching the radios on and off.
5. Clicking on the primer moves it in and out.
6. Master switch clicks on and off.
7. There is an autocoordination switch to the right of the Left yoke. Red is on.
7. To start, fuel on, mixture rich, (ensure aircraft setting for magnetos disabled), turn key.

It would be nice if FS98 was more 'real than it gets', so the additions like primer and master dont do anything, but do at least move as you go through proceedures. That is the idea.

Here is Steve's original legal stuff which also applies to this panel as well...

Thanks:-

Steve Hayes for original Panel and gauges.
Chris Lampard for original 172. Still famous after two years...
HGHB and all other gauge makers for gauges ...sorry I cannot give proper credit here, but Im sure to see your work show up in panels everywhere is a credit in itself. Im sorry I dont know who made the ignition switch, but it adds good realism for FS98 light aircraft. Thankyou.
