Piper Cub PA-11 N4971H "Flight of Passage" and N4711U for FS2004

Repaint, new PA-11 flightdynamics and reworked panels by Peter Henne.

Please note:
Due to the new fight-dynamics this model is capable of slips and spins. Set all sliders in "aircraft realism settings" to full right and use rudder-pedals or at least a joystick with rudder-function to be able to use these features.


Installation:
Unzip to a temporary Folder.
Move the contents(!) of the subfolder "gauges" to ..\fs9\gauges. Do *not* overwrite existing gauges.
Move the folder "Piper PA-11 Cub Special" to ..\fs9\aircraft.

Several gauge-files from FS2004-standard-aircraft (Cessna.gau, C208.gau, Extra-300.gau, Mooney_Bravo.gau) are used. They are NOT included, but they are available in any normal FS2004-Installation.

The Piper PA-11 'Cub Special' was the successor of the original J3-Cub. With its stronger framework, a more powerful engine and the closed cowling the PA-11 was a next step on the way from the original J3-Cub to the PA-18 Super-Cub. It was the first Cub which could be flown solo from the front seat (this FS2004-model can be piloted from the back seat too, just as the old J3 on solo-flights. Apply some more nose-down-trim).

N4971H was the airplane that carried Kern and Rinker Buck from coast to coast in Summer 1966 on their famous 'Flight of Passage'. The painting of this model resembles the original 71 Hotel as far as it was possible on the base of J.E.Narcizo's fine PA-18-Model. So there are some details which dont't fit to the real airplane: The cowling of the real PA-11 has a slightly different shape, the red "suns" were painted only on the top-side of the wings of the original 71 Hotel and here are other small details which can't be found on a PA-11. The PA-18-model had to be used as I didn't find a sufficient PA-11 for FS2004.

Whereas the original airplane in 1966 had no radio and no electrical starter, these items are added to the model for convenience. Even a handheld GPS is available (to open the GPS-Window click the button below the magnetic compass).

Nevertheless, on your very own 'Flight of Passage' in FS2004, you are strongly advised to not use these modern gadgets: Hand-prop the engine by using Ctrl-E, switch off the avionic-bus (toggle-switch below radio) and forget there is a GPS.

Not to mention: Forget about water-bags...

N4711U is a brandnew PA-11 that Jeff Russell constructed himself. The rollout was celebrated in October 2004, so More than 50 years after the first flight of a PA-11 there are new Cub Special's in the sky - in reality and in Flight Simulator.

Normal cruise: 81 mph ( 70 kts)

Stallspeed: 37 mph ( 33 kts)
