Otter Creek
~~~~~~~~~~~
Otter Creek is a floatplane base located approximately 5KM northeast of of Goose Bay Labrador. Tamalik Resorts operates a charter service out of Otter Creek, flying the De Havilland DHC6 Twin Otter. It carries sportsmen to the Mealy Mountain area of Labrador with it prime resort being Whitey's Pond on the headwaters of the famous Eagle River. Air Labrador also flys it's DHC6 Twin Otter out of here and is Tamalik's air charter partner. There is a couple of Charter Fishing companies at Otter Creek as well .. Minipi Camps which has a camp on the Eagle River and Igloo Lake Lodge which has a camp at Flowers River.
Installation *****VERY IMPORTANT*** PLEASE ENSURE YOU PUT THE FILES IN THE PROPER FOLDERS***
~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Unzip OttCrkv1.zip into a temporary folder. If you use Winzip Wizard that means the 'unzipped' folder on your C Drive.

2. You must install Gerrish Gray's Trees files first.

The scenery file, trees_0.bgl, goes into the MAIN FS2004 scenery folder, e.g. C:\FS2004\Scenery
The trees texture bitmaps, *.bmp, must go in the MAIN FS2004 texture folder, e.g. C:\FS2004\Texture.

3. Cut and Paste the Otter Creek folder with its contents to where you would normally install your addon scenery.
On my computer I created a folder under FS2004 called Addon Canada.

C:\FS2004\
Addon Canada\
Otter Creek\
Scenery
Texture

4. Cut and paste the AF2_CYR2.bgl file into your C:\FS2004\Addon Scenery\Scenery folder

5. Cut and paste the Traffic_Tam.bgl file into your C:\FS2004\Scenery\World\Scenery folder.

6. Cut and paste the Tamalik Air and Labrador Air floatplanes into your C:\FS2004\Aircraft folder as you would install any other aircraft. Note .. since they are coded as AI aircraft they will not show up in your aircraft menu. If you wish to obtain a flyable version of these aircraft visit Barry Blaisdell's website; see Credits for URL.

Start FS2004 and select Settings>Scenery Library>Add Area. Select through the folders till you get to the folder where you installed the scenery in step 3 and add Otter Creek scenery. You must then restart FS2004. From the menu select World>Go To Airport. You will find Otter Creek by entering it in the Airport window or entering CYR2 in the ID window. Alternately you can also find it in the Search Addon Scenery.

AI Traffic Make sure your Options>Settings>Traffic is set at 100% Density and both boxes in the Air Traffic are ticked.
~~~~~~~~~~
Set your time to 13:29 GMT. You should see the Tamalik Air Twin Otter and the Labrador Air Twin Otter at the dock. The Tamalik Air Twin Otter should start up and take off at 13:31 GMT bound for Cartwright. The Tamalik Air Twin Otter returns approximately 18:30 GMT The Labrador Air Twin Otter starts up at 16:30GMT for Rigolet and returns about 21:12GMT. Using the aircraft of your choice (preferably a floatplane :-)) position yourselt at the dock. Set to Spot view. Set your time about 5 to 10 minutes prior to arrival and press CTRL W. You should see the aircraft approach Otter Creek and land. Note you can set your sim rate to 4X (that's max for AI) to speed things up a bit.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Other AI Traffic recommendations
It is beyond the scope of this package to instruct on creating AI flightplans. You will need the program 'TTools' ver2.02 by Lee Swordy to create more flightplans and a very easy program to use. There are also a couple of programs that create flighplans for you on your favorite flightsim sites.
For aircraft I recommend the DHC2 Beaver (beave2k4.zip) by John L. Woodward,the the Aviat Husky (aviatfl.zip) by Steven Grant and the Cessna 172 floatplane (ces172st.zip) by Fred Choate.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Know Issues
1. If you place your aircraft closely behind the fence, facing east, and look at the Tamalik building the lower part of the building becomes transparent. I am certain it has to do with looking through the transparent textures of the fence. I do not know how to fix this but then you shouldn't be spending much time there anyway :-).
2. The Hold short point appears on the water as a small set of yellow markers. I could have repainted the colors to match the water but then the hold short markers would appear 'blue' in the rest of your scenery so it was best left alone.
Credits
First, to Kevin Pardy of Goose Bay Labrador. He sparked my interested in this area in the first place and sent me numerous detailed photos which made the scenery as realistic as possible. Without his input this scenery would not have been possible. Thanks Kevin.
To Gerrish Gray for his excellent trees routine.
Finally to Barry Blaisdell for testing out the scenery and providing the excellent float Twin Otters. Check out his website, Premier Aircraft Design, at www.flightsimnetwork.com/premaircraft/home.htm for some excellent Twin Otters and other aircraft.
