FS2004 Battleship Catapult Launch V2
This is an overall upgrade to my original Catapult Launch file, catapult.zip.
This file contains a new Vought OS2U-3 Kingfisher. It is painted for VS-3, assigned to the battleship USS Idaho, pre WW2. The battleship USS Idaho has been upgraded with more detail and a textured deck. The aft catapult has been redone based on photos of pre-war ships. The ship has been placed at Pearl Harbor just north of Ford Island. The catapult take-off is pointed to the South - West. The Kingfisher panel (based on a real photo) has the rcbco-11 XML catapult gauge added. This gauge has been edited for an aceleration to 100 knots in 100 feet to be more representative of an explosive driven catapult. Imagine 0-100 in 100 feet; that had to be a real kick in the pants!
PLEASE NOTE: The gauge itself is not part of this file; you must download rcbco-11.zip and install it in its entirety. It is available at www.SurClaro, www.SurClaro.com, www.simviation.com and www.sim-outhose.com. I recommend you install this file in its entirety even though only one gauge is used in this project. There is an interaction between some of the components and this way everything works. The original author's have provided excellent detailed installation instructions; follow them and there won't be any problems. Also, you can then add the catapult and arrestor gear gauges to other aircraft. This is a FSDS2.24 project which I compiled directly into FS2004. I don't believe it will work in any other sim.

INSTALLATION: Unzip Pultv2.zip into a temporary folder. Copy the folder Kingfisher into the aircraft folder of FS2004. Remember, you still need the gauges from rcbco-11.zip. Open the Flight folder and copy the contents into the My Saved Flights folder of FS2004. (This folder is now called Flight Simulator Files and resides in the My Documents folder of Win XP)
Next copy the folder IdahoH into the Add On scenery folder of FS2004. Close and open FS2004, when you see the set up screen click on settings then click on scenery library, click on add area, then look at the drop down and click on Add On scenery then click on the folder IdahoH. Click on it, don't open it. Now click on OK and close FS2004.

GAUGES: I honestly don't remember if the Corsair, Wildcat and Hellcat gauges which I used in this project originally came with FS2004 or not so I have included them in the gauges folder of this file. If you already have them, fine, if not copy them into the Gauges folder of FS2004.

FLYING: Open FS2004, go to My Saved Flights and click on Hawaii Catapult Launch. The flight will open with the Kingfisher sitting at the back end of the catapult. Go to cockpit view and click on only the Arm switch. Go back to Spot plane and set a eye point you like. Now, lower the flaps and run up the engine; remove the parking brake and OUCH!!!!

LEGAL: This project is released as freeware. You may modify it, repaint it, etc., upload to another website as long as it is not for profit. You need my written permission to use any of these files for commercial purposes; otherwise just give me credit for the original design. This airplane should not hurt your computer but I am not responsible if it causes problems.

One last thing, I really don't have time to honor requests to move this ship, so please don't ask!

Enjoy! Paul Clawson
