Please turn word wrap on.

Castlegar is located in the southeast corner of British Columbia. It is nestled in amonsgt the Selkirk Mountains in a region known as the Central Kootenay district. Situated at the confluence of the Columbia and Kootenay Rivers, it is the hub city for 9 dams controlling the water flow and generating electricity for a large portion of the Pacific Northwest. Hence the nickname the "Best Dam City in the World". It is served by Air Canada Jazz Dash 8's, with 3 flights daily to Vancouver and 1 flight to Calgary AB. Believe it or not the now defunct Canadian Airlines (formerly Canadian Pacific) used to fly B737-200's into here.

Castlegar is a favorite of Flight Simmers for it's challenging approach. Dial in the Castlegar NDB (CG-277) as #1 and the Brilliant NDB (YK-269) as #2. Your VOR1 Localizer is 110.1 and OBS 177degrees.

Note .. WATCH Your altitude and rate of decent. The track is right over top a mountain. If your squeamish then follow the Loc about 2 dots left of the centerline to place you over the river.

The approach starts before the CG NDB (227) at 9000 ft on a heading of 177. Cross the CG NDB at 8000ft following the LOC to the Castlegar airport. Switch to #2 ADF for YK and adjust rate of decent to cross at 5900ft. Once crossed be prepared for a hard left turn and keep a sharp eye 45 deg left for a visual to the runway.

Missed approach is .. Climb to 7000ft on track of 177deg .. LEFT climbing turn to 9000ft to 'CG' NDB on track of 348.

Be sure to try the airport at night for a real challenge! Some excellent night textures.

Installation
~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Unzip Castlegar into a temporary folder.
2. Place the AF2_CYCG.bgl into your FS2004/Addon Scenery/Scenery folder. This is necessary for ATC and runway lighting. I also added a parking spot for your Air Canada Jazz Dash8 if you so wish to add AI traffic.
3. Cut and Paste the CYCG folder with its contents to where you would normally install your addon scenery.
In my example I placed it in the C:\FS2004\Addon Canada\ folder
C:\FS2004\
Addon Canada\
CYXC\
Texture
4.Start FS2004 and select World>Scenery Library>Add..area and your scenery. Once added you have to reboot your flight simulator.
You will find Castlegar in your main Go to Airport Directory Menu>
Recommendations.
1. I strongly recommend you get Holger Sandman's bcmeshp2.zip, bcmesh9D.zip and bcmesh9E.zip. It adds incredible realism to the area, including dams.
