ABOUT THE AIRPORT:

Salt Lake City International (KSLC) is operated and managed by the Salt Lake City Department of Airports, a department of Salt Lake City Corporation. Its affairs are overseen by Salt Lake City's Mayor, the City Council and a nine-member advisory board of citizen volunteers. The department also operates Tooele Valley Airport and Airport II in West Jordan, general aviation/reliever facilities. Salt Lake City International Airport is located five miles northwest of downtown Salt Lake City. The airfield consists of three air carrier runways and a general aviation runway. Runway 16L/34R is 12,003 feet long, runway 16R/34L is 12,000 feet long, runway 17/35 is 9,596 feet long and runway 14/32 is 4,900 feet long. There are two terminals, five concourses (A-E).

1911 A cinder-covered landing strip in a marshy pasture called Basque Flats (after the Spanish-French sheepherders in the area) was the rudimentary beginning of the airport. It was originally used for aerobatic flights and was the site of the Great International Aviation Carnival.

1920 Salt Lake City purchased 100 acres surrounding the landing strip for $40.00 per acre. The resulting airfield was named Woodward Field, after local pilot John P. Woodward. World heavyweight boxing champion Jack Dempsey was on hand to help christen the airfield, which was a mail service facility only.

1930 Woodward Field was renamed Salt Lake City Municipal Airport. It consisted of 400 acres, 11 hangars and two gravel runways

1968 The airport was renamed the Salt Lake City International Airport.

ABOUT THE SCENERY:

Sometimes I just close my eyes and toss a dart at the map and wherever it lands, I do the closest airport facility. Well this is the results of the latest dart toss. Not all of the gates are represented, but all of the commercial aircraft are present (I think). I had a difficult time creating the terminal. It got to a point where as I added objects, the airport would disappear. The solution was to create the terminal in sections. I guess the .bgl file was too large before. (See, I'm still learning this stuff) For the most part, all planes do go to their assigned parking area. As far as the on going problem of crashing into invisible buildings, it's still going so I recommend that you turn your crash detect off.
This download has some special textures included. They belong in the texture folder under your main FS folder. Without them you will only see gray or black retangular structures at the front of the terminal buildings. They are the airline company signs.
AS usual, there is a list of aircraft you can download to use with the inclosed flight plans. Happy flying!

INSTALLATION:

Hopefully I've made this step by step installation guide user friendly. If there is any part you don't understand, fell free to email me and I will try to assist you the best I can.

Again, I hope you have unzipped the kslc_v1 zip file to a temporary folder and are reading this readme file now.

Step 1. Set your unzip utility to use/create folders, then unzip the kslc_scen.zip file to the drive where your FS2004 is located.
Results of step 1: A folder named fs2k4_scenery\kslc\scenery should be created on your drive. In the scenery sub-folder should be the *.bgl files. Also, the start-up files UT - Salt Lake City International.FLT and UT - Salt Lake City International.WX Should be in the My Documents\Flight Simulator Files folder and the AF2_KSLC.bgl file should be in the Addon Scenery\scenery folder of FS2004 (or however you named the folder where your flight simulator is located.) The special textures should be in the texture folder under the main FS folder.
Step 2. Open the KSLCFLTPLN.txt file and copy the contents to the flightplansxxxxxx file in Lee Swordy's Traffic Tools v2 (If you don't have traffic tools, you can download it from SurClaro) Download all necessary aircraft and install them into FS. Now add them to the Aircraftxxxxxx file in traffic tools as per the Readme file of TTools. Don't forget to change the AC#'s in the flightplans file for kslc to follow sequence with the AC#'s in YOUR traffic tools Aircraft file.
Step 3. Download and install Lee Swordy's AFCAD v2.11. Open AFCAD and enter the Tools menu and select the Aircraft Editor. There, for each aircraft used in the scenery, designate the livery. If the livery is not available, designate the type of parking. For example Cargo, or C or Mil_cargo or MR etc. This will help assign the aircraft to the proper parking space.
Step 4. Start FS and select settings, then Scenery Library. Now select Add Area and install the scenery in the usual manner. Now shut down FS.
Step 5. Re-start FS and this time select Select a Flight. At the top select My Saved Flights. At the bottom, find UT - Salt Lake City International and highlight it and click OK.
Step 6. Have a happy and safe flight.

I hope I didn't leave anything out. You can email me at the address below for comments/questions. I will try to answer as soon as possible and as many as possible.
