FS2002 Aircraft F-15 Eagle 48th FIS USAF

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This file is best read in Notepad with wordwrap turned on.

The plane is a USAF Boeing(McDonnell-Douglas) F-15A Eagle of the 48th FIS, ADTAC
at Langley AFB, Virginia in 1986. This was the first Air Defence unit to fly the F15, when
it replaced the Convair F-106 Delta Dart in 1982.
This is a Gmax model for FS2002. Aircraft by Kimitaka Nishida. Repaint by Paul Barry.

History
-------
After downloading and flying the excellent F-15J by Kimitaka Nishida, I thought that I would
create some new unit textures. This is my sixth repaint of his F-15. I have based my repaint
on photographs from a number of sources. This aircraft is the squadron flagship as marked in
late 1986/mid 1987.

If you like this repaint, see also my first five repaints-
57th FS "IS" repaint "f15cis.zip" flagship
36th TFW "BT" repaint "f15cbt.zip" flagship
48th FW "LN" repaint "f15cln.zip" flagship
33rd TFW "EG" repaint "f15ceg.zip" 'Gulf Spirit'
58th TFTW "LA" repaint "f15ala.zip" 555th TFTS 'Triple Nickel' in air superiority blue

All have been repainted from photographs and so show a good level of detailed accuracy.

I like "good visuals" so I have added flame and afterburner effects to the aircraft (thanks
to Peter Davies and JR for their work).

I have used and tested the plane in FS2002 pro. I expect it to work in FS2002 std also.

Installation
------------

For automatic installation, unzip to your main FS2002 directory.

To manually install (PREFERABLE), unzip first to a temporary directory. Then copy the folder
F-15a48fis (found in the aircraft directory) to your main aircraft directory in FS2002.

If you also want the flame and afterburner effects, then copy the contents of the effects
folder into your main FS2002 effects folder. A further option is to hear a boom when the
afterburners are lit. For this effect, copy the contents of the SOUND folder to your main
FS2002 sound folder.

Note, if you have already downloaded my earlier repaints, the effects and sound files for
the flame and burner are the same - so you don't need to use them again.

Aircraft panel and sound are aliased to the FS Learjet, so you will ideally need to download
an F15 panel and sound. I use the Paul Schwerdtfeger panel "f15pn2k2.zip". For sound I use
Mike Hambly's F16 sound "ba f16.zip" (both aircraft use the P&W F100 engine).

Now just load up FS and fly!

Effects
--------

For maximum effects press the letter I key for wing contrails and for smoke above a certain
height. Press the letters L and or O to see the flame and afterburner effects.

You can also use cockpit panel switches for landing and navigation lights, and the letter O
(or the cockpit strobe light switch) for strobe/afterburner effects. This works with the
default Lear panel. Other panels may vary.

Credits
--------

Many thanks to Kimitaka Nishida for his fantastic F-15. Also thanks to him for showing me
how to paint the canopy seals. Thanks to Peter Davies for allowing me to use his Su-27
files for the flame and afterburner effects. Thanks also to JR for his kind support.
I think that the sound files are from CFS2-so thanks!
My work is limited to the repaint and the half day I spent positioning the flame and
afterburner effects on the F15!
