Other gauges (from a panel released by Dave Haskell in August 1999,
about which he wrote: "plus many thanks to the other originators of
various freeware gauges I've used whose names I've lost or forgotten
- keep up the excellent work." [I fully sympathise... and this is my
first panel! I have made every effort to track gauges and give credit
where possible, but for the mysterious orphans I defer, like Dave, to the
spirit of the FS community - thanks - whoever you are.]

Hawker Siddeley 121 Trident - Panel
-----------------------------------

This Trident panel (technically for non-3B models, as it does not support a 4th 'booster'
engine) is dedicated to my uncle, Mike Davies, BEA pilot, and all who perished on Vanguard G-APEC.

This is my first panel - and the first time I have given something back to the wonderful flight
sim community - other than the odd bit of info for developers.

Thanks goes to Jamie for his assistance with the panel's appearance and configuration....

This panel is freeware. I urge simmers to tinker... to improve... to boldly go...
Copyright status of gauges must be honoured. Most are public domain/freeware. Give appropriate
credits if you release a new version of the Trident panel, please. I know how hard it can be to
trace 'ownership' of gauges, so I include the list above to make life easier for future Trident
panel developers. If gauge developers notice any errors, please let me know.

I had a few black and white snaps and the panel varied as you'd expect. Some gauges are probably
wrong, but nothing major. And that's the beauty of the flight sim world... Get the ball rolling
and someone will pick it up and run with it.

A droop lever / slats lever would be good. A dummy droop lever is included. I probably should
have gone for a dummy slats lever... but what the heck... get it out there!

Use the trident panel for: Pakistan International Airlines - HS121 Trident 1E (eg AP-ATK)
British European Airways / BA - HS121 Trident 1C (eg G-ARPB - the autoland pioneer)
British European Airways / BA - HS121 Trident 2E (eg G-AVFE)
British European Airways / BA - HS121 Trident 3B (eg G-AWYZ - surprisingly the first 3B)
Iraqi Airways - HS121 Trident 1E (eg YI-AEB)
Kuwait Airways - HS121 Trident 1E (eg 9K-ACF - 1C mod. to 1E prior to del.)
Air Ceylon - HS121 Trident 1E-140 (4R-ACN)
Cyprus Airways - HS121 Trident 1E (eg:5B-DAB)
Cyprus Airways - HS121 Trident 2E (eg 5B-DAC)
CAAC - HS121 Trident 1E/2E/3B/Super 3B(+seats/fuel/wght)
(eg 1E just '232', 2E B-252, 3B B-270)
China United Airlines - (well.... CAAC's... eg 2E B-2217 )
Channel Airways - HS121 Trident 1E-140 (eg G-AVYE)
Air Charter Service of Zaire - ex. BA 3Bs (reg???)

And of course... Northeast (Good name for an airline) - HS121 Trident 1E-140 (eg G-AVYD)

Pilots, to your left are the mouse-friendly pushback and park brake gauges. There is as yet no
checklist. However, the cockpit is designed to assist you in organising your flight. Enter your
destination or a waypoint in the map (early Tridents had some kind of paper scrolling thingo -
I think). Enter V1, Vr and...say...initial climb out speeds into the central TOAirspeed gauge
(the bottom button - 1 - is V1, etc.) Typical BEA settings for a Trident 1C were V1 (whatever
- depending on weight and runway length/conditions/wind/mood of pilot...),..147 for safe lift-off
and that +30 for flaps up (i.e., say, 85, 147, 177). The gauge beeps accordingly as you take off.
After lift off raise gear when climb is established. At lift-off plus 30 kts (about 177kts) commence
flap retraction and throttle back so as not to annoy the nice people below. You can throttle the
Speys up again as you pass 3000AGL... (The droop or slats would normally be left fully down until
perhaps 225kts... - pretend, if you like).

For fun I enjoy "riding the spoiler" on descent - i.e. hold the mouse button down on the round spoiler
handle and drag it fore and aft according to taste. NB: If you do this, reset it (cycle the spoiler)
with the "/" key prior to arming for landing or it stays where you leave it (I think).

Most of the rest you can discover for yourself.

Finally, spare a thought for G-ARPY... she crashed on her maiden flight.

Enough from me.

Strap in and check out Jamie's Lahore scenery... WOW!

Karl
