SEATAC AIRPORT IMPROVEMENTS FOR MICROSOFT FSX
SEAFSX.ZIP 12/19/08

DESCRIPTION:

This is an improvement of the default Seattle-Tacoma (SeaTac) airport that includes the recently commissioned 3rd runway. The artificial plateau that the airport is built on has been expanded, the 3rd runway added, several objects added, relocated or removed and appropriate ground textures and landclass for the airport and immediate area added.

There are a few requirements and recommendations for the best display of this scenery (See Notes below).

FSX with SP1
Mesh Resolution slider setting: 38m (Important)
Mesh Complexity slider: 70 (recommended)
Scenery complexity: Extremely dense (to see all airport terminal structures)
Autogen density: Dense (recommended)
Road Vehicles: 20 (Looks typical)

INSTALLATION:

1) Unzip all the files from SEAFSX.ZIP into a temporary directory. Be sure to allow extraction of pathnames (directories). You will see that a directory SEAFSX has been created in the temporary directory with two subdirectories SCENERY and TEXTURE.

2) Open Windows Explorer and drag the SEAFSX directory into your FSX\ADDON SCENERY directory.

3) Start FSX and from the World, Scenery Library screen select Add Area and add the SEAFSX scenery.

NOTES:

The mesh slider must be set to 38m for this scenery to look right. This is necessary because of the complexity of terrain adjustments required around the borders of the artificial plateau that SeaTac is built on. Higher mesh settings will cause the banks to be too steep and misplaced around the airport periphery; lower will flatten the banks.

I recommend using extremely dense for scenery complexity since lower settings cause the removal of several airport structures especially in the air cargo area to the North that I consider necessary for decent realism.

I designed this scenery with no enhancements to FSX SP1 except for Genesis Mesh and Landclass. It will display correctly with or without the Genesis software.
