ZIA VA Valdez Marine Terminal Scenery for FS2004
6/27/05
Ver1.0

IMPORTANT:

You MUST download the ZIA-Valdez Part_2 zip file. This contains the static objects from RWY 12. Without this, you'll only see 2 of the four berths and will be missing some scenery objects. Add the scenery as outlined in the installation instructions below.

DESCRIPTION

VALDEZ

Ok. Here is the First version. This scenery was designed in Flight Simulator Scenery Creator and effects brought over with FSEffects. Designed with Ed Denney's 38m AK mesh installed and in FS2004. Your mileage may vary.

This layout is VERY CLOSE to the real-world layout, although by no means perfect. Bear with me as I tweek it and refine objects.... Some notes:

1. There is an NDB, Freq 619. BE AWARE the NDB sits on the bluff overlooking the marine terminal area.

2. I assume everyone has the Nova/Nova Gold/ASD/Airport textures in their main FS texture folder. If not ya can get them from every major FS download site or our web site, www.ziacargo.com. Also you MUST have the Base Texture package from our website. This was done to shrink the size of each scenery download. There eventually will be 15 sceneries for this series.

3. There are 3 helipads on the heliport and one rooftop helipad on the main HQ building by Berth #5. All are landable. Be careful of antennae in the area!

4. The entire dock IS landable. Took me awhile to get that right.

5. The concrete docks and pipeline (what is in this part) were designed by myself with Easy Object Designer. I'll add the small river bridges in a future update.

6. There is even steam coming up from the main factory. All scenery with "dense" setting and most with "normal". Trust me, even at dense, it is not a frame rate hog.

7. Yes, there ARE some anomolies as of this version. Some textures are greyed and some road/railroad sections disappear at certain angles. Still working that!!

8. Expect an updated version within a week or so with an even closer representation.

9. This zip file contains ONLY updated FS2004 scenery and textures for the ALYESKA Marine Terminal at Valdez, Alaska. Current as of 6/27/05. Updates will be provided as completed.

INSTALLATION:

1. Put the ZIA_Valdez AND Static Objects Library folders in the ADDON SCENERY folder of FS2004.

NOTE: If you already have the folder in your ADDON SCENERY folder, then just extract the contents into the existing folder as this update ONLY updates the Marine Terminal and no other Pump Station/Pipeline scenery....

2. Add both sceneries manually when FS2004 first opens. Static Objects Library just above ZIA_Valdez.

3. Once added, quit FS2004.

4. If you're UPDATING from the FS2002 version, you MUST delete the appropriate "scenery.dat" file for the ZIA Valdez scenery. This allows FS2004 to rebuild a clean data file for ZIA Valdez .bgl's.

5. You DO NOT need the RWY12 program. ALL necessary files are included.

PUMP STATIONS

NOTE:

Pipeline and Pump Station sceneries are on the scenery page at www.ziacargo.com. About 400 miles of pipe resides above ground and I have endeavoured to recreate the TAP System.

1. The pump station layouts are the figment of my imagination and are NOT comparable to any real world stations. Locations are CLOSE. I will update each as I get time with the real world photos I now have. What I HAVE endeavered to do was to place the pipeline as close to rw location as possible.

2. I have been using the limited overheads available on the net for pipe placement. Some of these are VERY hard to come by, so PLEASE don't email me and nitpick because I was 300m off!!

3. As such, this representation of the pipeline system is meant for ZIA/Sunspot pilots to fly ad-hoc missions, pipeline survey missions and to generally see what is there and have fun!

4. As I move north in the scenery development of the pipe, any input would be greatly appreciated....

5. I finally managed to find overheads/obliques of most Pump Stations. Updates as I have time....

6. YES,I KNOW!!!! A few Pump Stations are incomplete or were never built!!! This IS FS2004!!!!

AIRPORTS

1. Once I finish the pipe, I will go back and embellish some of the enroute airports.

THANKS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

1. Special thanks to Kyle Ramsey for his critiques and advice, some macros he sent me and for helping me understand all this scenery design stuff!!

2. There are a few MINOR issues with the scenery. Eventually I'll tweak it, but I want to start expanding it up to Prudhoe Bay over the next few months. Additional sceneries will be put out and will be dropped right into your Zia scenery folder along side these.

3. A big thanks to all the wonderful freeware designers who have made their macros and textures available for download. The list is by no means complete. Some macros had no designer's names in their documentation:

Jordan Moore, Kern Pegg, Paul Emsley, Matthias Bruckner, Léon Louis, Jorge Pagano, Graham P. Oxtoby, John L Fleming, Roger Mole, Tony Adams, John Vrbanac, H Enos, Paavo Pihelgas, Paul Harmon, Christian Friedrich, Emanuel Dietz, John de Langristin, Peter Leadbeater, Jim Jackson, Robert Palmer, Lou Volland, Danny Levin, Tom Hutson, Andrej Urosevic, Sven Hunaeus, Chris Wagner.
