**USE WORD WRAP**

**After installation, it's important that you read the HTML document "README - REDSGMAX" to be found in "FS2002/Red Arrows Documents" - it contains operational notes for the REDPACK7 animation and an illustrated panel diagram. This document has been updated for this download.**

THE "RED ARROWS" Package for FS2002 - DISPLAY 4 GMAX - RED7UPD.ZIP
__________________________________________________________________

FEATURES:

This download is relevant only to the file REDPACK7.ZIP, which MUST be installed first. It includes:

- Voice callouts for ALL the animations in REDPACK7, recorded from 'Red One' in flight by Mike Ellis and packed into a new formation gauge by Matt Kaprocki

- New, more accurate, Hawk engine gauges (NI, TGT and FUEL) by Matt Kaprocki

- New rudder trim gauge by Matt Kaprocki

- New, more realistic lights switching on the side panel by Matt Kaprocki

- A new transponder, that is more in keeping visually with the other purpose-made radio equipment, by Matt Kaprocki

- Another genuine flight map, toggled from the cockpit, of a circuit out of RAF Scampton formating for a flypast over Lincoln. This is relevant to an intended AI traffic 'training' release for the 'Reds'

- Following aircraft in the mirrors. They should have been in the original upload, but for some reason they were grounded that day! Mirrors are by Kari Virtanen, adapted by Mark Beaumont for the 'Reds'

- A revised main fuselage texture for your 'Reds' aircraft, saved both 'with mips' or 'without mips' depending on preference. Users with older graphic cards may find (and have found) the mipped texture to be somewhat blurry close-up; without mips, this blurriness disappears. Both choices have reflective paint so the choice is yours. The non-mipped texture will install by default; the mipped version is included but must be renamed if you wish to use it. Textures are by Mark Beaumont based on Kari Virtanen's excellent originals

- Updated aircraft display and panel operating notes/illustrations including the workings of Eric Marciano's TCAS Radar, by Mark Beaumont

INSTALLATION:

Either, the easy way, given that you made no changes to your original installation of REDPACK7.ZIP:

Unzip the file 'RED7UPD.ZIP' directly into your main FS2002 directory (FS2002 installs by default to C:/PROGRAM FILES/MICROSOFT GAMES/FS2002).

Panel update files will be installed automatically into your AIRCRAFT/BAe Hawk 'Red Arrows' Display Team 4 GMAX/PANEL/ folder, textures will go to that aircraft's TEXTURE folder, new gauges will install to the FS2002/GAUGES folder and document updates will be installed in the FS2002/RED ARROWS DOCUMENTS folder.

Or, you can install files the manual way:

Unpack 'RED7UPD.ZIP' to a temporary folder. After checking that folder names are intact, move:

The contents of the AIRCRAFT folder (e.g., the folder 'BAe Hawk 'Red Arrows' Display Team 4 GMAX' with everything inside it) to your main FS2002/AIRCRAFT folder - move the files one by one if you so desire
The contents of the GAUGES folder to your FS2002/GAUGES folder
The RED ARROWS DOCUMENTS folder to anywhere you wish to keep it for reference

Installation in this manner, although more laborious, allows you to ensure that no file overwrites an existing file on your disk without your knowledge.

**Note that:

The 'mipped' texture file is included, but must be renamed should you wish to use it. It's installed in your aircraft's TEXTURE folder as 'fuse_t (with mips)'. Back up the unmipped 'fuse_t' first, in case you should wish to revert.

RED ARROWS DOCUMENTS has been updated, and also includes a new folder named UPDATED AIRFILES, which includes files for use in earlier REDPACK downloads should you wish to use the REDPACK7 panel with those aircraft**

CREDITS:

This upgrade is largely the work of Matt Kaprocki, whose new gauges enhance this panel enormously. Thanks, Matt. Matt is currently training at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida, but is a pretty handy programmer too!

Mike Ellis, whose large collection of sound WAVS Mark Beaumont chopped about for use with the 'Reds'. Mike's files are genuine 'Red One' commands taped at "Red Arrows" displays at St. Mawgan, Cornwall and elsewhere.

Eric Marciano for the HUD diagrams; his site is well worth a visit at http://emarciano.free.fr/

John May of the "Red Arrows" for his continuing friendship and advice.

Yours truly, who polished the panel a little and refreshed the paint on the 'Reds' texture bitmap.
