THE "RED ARROWS" Packages for FS2002

FS2002 Lights upgrade for the single Hawk in REDPACK.ZIP, REDPACK1.ZIP

__________________________________________________________________

FEATURES:

You will have noticed that many FS2000 aircraft, converted for FS2002, display 'balloon' lights that grow larger the farther you are away from the aircraft in SPOT VIEW. This was a particularly annoying anomaly with Mikko's otherwise wonderful single FSDS Hawk model. I should point out that this fault is not of his making, as it was I, Mark Beaumont, who upgraded the aircraft to FS2002 for use in the REDPACK packages.

However, the problem is now solved by the very clever Paul Pridwales who, once approached with the problem, returned a result within twenty four hours. Thanks, Paul, you're going to make a lot of people very happy!

Also included is a 'no mips' version of the main fuselage texture file. Many users with older graphics cards find such bitmaps produce a sharper image.

This download will make your Hawk a lot more fun to fly in external view.

INSTALLATION:

1. Unzip RED1UPD.ZIP to a temporary folder. The folder 'RED1UPD' will be created.

2. Whether you originally installed REDPACK.ZIP or REDPACK1.ZIP, using WINDOWS EXPLORER locate the folder:

..............PROGRAM FILES/MICROSOFT GAMES/FS2002/AIRCRAFT/BAe Hawk 'Red Arrows' TMk 1 A/MODEL/

Then simply drop the enclosed file 'Bae Hawk Red Arrow.mdl' into this MODEL folder, overwriting the original.

3. Replace the aircraft's AIRCRAFT.CFG file with the one in this download. Overwrite.

If you prefer (or have made changes to your own single Hawk AIRCRAFT.CFG file that you wish to retain) add the [LIGHTS] section manually that's to be found in Paul Pridmore's own file 'Readme lights', enclosed with this download.

4. To try the 'no mips' fuselage texture file, open your aircraft's TEXTURE folder. Backup the file 'fuse1024' within by naming it 'fuse1024BK'. Then move the file found in the TEXTURE folder within this download into your airxcraft's TEXTURE folder. You can always revert to the old file if you wish to, by renaming it once more.

4. It's suggested that you then move the two README files enclosed with this download to your RED ARROWS DOCUMENTS folder, for future reference. You'll have a lot more in it in the future!

That's it! Delete the residue ...

**Please note that on the above basis this new model file can replace any other Hawk that uses the model file of the same name. A number of repaints of this beautiful 'plane have been uploaded to the Internet.
