Grumman G44 Widgeon for FS2004
by Joe Binka
Panel, FDE and Textures
by Michael Verlin
May 30, 2007

This is a re-release of the G44 Widgeon by Joe Binka. The FDE was made by myself with the help of Jerry Beckwith's AirWrench.
The panel bitmaps were made by myself. The primary flight instruments and many of the other gauges are stock FS9. The radio stack gauges were made by Gerd R. Nehr. The Cessna DG was made by Jim Robinson. The overhead guages were taken from Joe Binka's original gauge set, modified for use in the new panel.

The sound packages were derived from two sources: The GSO480 package comes from Aaron Swindle's sounds made for Milton Shupe's Aero Commander. The R680-13 package comes from a sounds made by Mike Hambly for an FS98 Stinson package. Both packages have been adapted for use by incorporation of Mike Hambly's waterloop sounds and other adaptations.

Liveries are supplied for Navy, Coast Guard and private versions painted by Michael Verlin.

If you have the RealityXP Flightline T and N as well as the Simflyer GPX-SX Bendix King Radios, an alternative panel configuration file and gauge configuration files are included for your convenience.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are two models of the G44 in this package. One is powered by Lycoming GSO480 270 hp inline air cooled 6 cylinder engines. After World War II, when surplus Widgeons were made available for private sale, many Widgeons had the original 200 hp Ranger engines and fixed pitch props, replaced with the more powerful Lycomings and constant speed props.

The other version is also a post war modification, but employing Lycoming R680-13 300 hp 9 cycliner radials. This enigne dates back to 1929, and was used to power Stinsons and Stearmans in the 1930's Many a WW II Navy and Army Air Force pilot was trained on a Lycoming R680 powered Stearman primary Trainer.

TO INSTALL: Use a decompression program like Winzip to unzip the downloaded file to a
temporary directory; then use Windows Explorer to copy the Grumman Widgeon folders to the Flight Sim 2004 aircraft folder. Copy all .gau files from the gauge folder to your FS2004 gauge folder. Copy .wav files from gauge sounds.zip to the FS2004 sound folder. No conversion of the aircraft is needed.

The radial engine version was made with a VC, which interferes with the side and rear cockpit views of the new panel. There is a small black switch on the right side of the overhead that will toggle the VC off.

Important: This is Freeware! It may not be used commercially in any way. This simulation is made for the sole purpose of entertainment for fellow flight simmers. It may NOT be sold or distributed on any disk or CD, regardless of whether the disk or CD is allegedly "non-profit".
