This package will greatly enhance the world environment in Flight Simulator by adding more realistic sky textures and lighting for all phases of the day and seasons.
NEW IN THIS UPDATE:
This update corrects some of the issues from the previous version. For one, the blue tinge that the previous package created on some of the textures has been fixed. Gone is the yellow fog effect as well. Also, new and more realistic sky textures for dawn and dusk have been included (courtesy of Thomas Grillo). These new dawn and dusk textures add the red-orange strip of horizon haze seen at dawn and dusk in the real world every day. The effect correctly displays in the right part of the sky as seen in the real world.
PLEASE READ THE FAQ (FOUND BELOW) BEFORE SENDING ME ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS ADD-ON.
If you have 3rd party sky textures I recommend you back them up before installing these new textures.
Go to your main FS9/Texture folder and organize all the files by name. Now backup all the textures that start with sky starting with sky_afternoon_0.bmp and ending with sky_sunset_9.bmp. Make sure you put them in a safe place.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Open the zip file called New textures.zip and extract all the contents to your main FS9/Texture folder.
2. When prompted to overwrite, choose Yes to all
That's it! Load FS9 and enjoy the new environment :-)
To uninstall:
Open the zip file called "Default Textures.zip" and extract them to your main FS9/Texture folder. When prompted to overwrite, choose Yes to all
Q: How come the sun doesnt look like in the screenshots?
A: I must say that the sun you see in the screenshots is an add-on I downloaded called Modified Sun V2 done by Eitan Daniel and Vincent van Veen.
You can find it in the search section of Flightsim. The file is called "sunmodv2.zip.
Q: How come the city lights dont look like in the screenshots?
A: Again, that is another add-on. Thats the payware add-on I worked on during the summer and its called Ultimate Night Environment Pro. Its available now at simmarket.com
Q: Do these new textures and lighting affect frame rates?
A: Nope, you will still get the same frame rates you are getting now.
Q:How do I uninstall these textures?
A: If you backed up the previous textures all you have to do is restore them. If you didnt, open the zip file called default textures.zip and extract all the contents to your
main FS9/Texture folder. When prompted to overwrite, choose Yes to all
Q: Are these textures compatible with FS2002?
A: These textures have only been tested with FS2004. Theres a chance they might also work with FS2002. So try them at your own risk. Also, dont forget to backup the original sky textures.
