This AFCAD2 file is to compliment the wonderful work done by Shehryar 'Shez' Ansari. The file should not be used with the default airport as the taxiways and tracks will not line up properly. Install Shez's file SNA2004.zip first and then his patch SNA2004SP.zip

Installation:

Copy the file AF2_KSNA.BGL to the ADD-ON Scenery folder of your choice. Make sure you de-activate any other previous KSNA AFCAD files to prevent conflicts. I usually keep all my AFCAD2 files together in an Add-On Scenery folder I created (named what else, but AFCADS!). However with custom designed airports I usually just drop the AFCAD2.bgl file into the Scenery folder for that particular airport. That way if I ever de-activate that scenery the AFCAD is de-activated as well. Just a suggestion.

There seemed to be no way of keeping large aircraft from landing at 19L. While testing I saw several 737's land and skid onto the grass! Not a good thing. Even closing the runway did not seem to make a difference. So I have also enclosed a modified Stock AFCAD (the base layer that comes with FS2004). All I did was close the landing portion of 19L and that seems do have done the trick. But I only had one day of testing. You can try it first without using this file and if you’re happy just skip this segment of the install below.

Otherwise do following:

1. - Go to main FS2004 Scenery folder. Path is: FS9\scenery\Namw\Scenery and look for the file AP916200.BGL. Keep it in its location so you don't lose it but rename to AP916200.BGL.ORG (ORG for Original). That way you can always go back to it if needed.

2. - Now just copy over my file AP916200.BGL into the same scenery folder. Re-start FS2004.

A few quick notes on my design:

Because this AFCAD2 file is not actually seen, some of the taxiways, etc, might look a little messy.. But don't worry, Sheza's scenery will cover that up.

Gates have been properly assigned according to airlines based on watching the airport's departure and arrival screens. Several extra gates have been added for overspill based on your AI traffic and spots for FedEx and UPS in the south Apron have been added.

The majority of departures take place on RWY 19R so if you are getting always directed to RWY 1L add a little wind into the mix before you start.

Also threw in a few GA spots around the airport to show life and movement as you move about.

A few flight suggestions:

1. - Take your favorite GA aircraft out from KSNA to the desert resort community of Palm Springs (KPSP) for a leisurely lunch.

2. - Take the jet out (gee, what color?), from KSNA to San Francisco for dinner up in NAPA valley Wine Country.

3.- KSNA down to San Diego (KSAN) at dusk along the coast... beautiful sunsets!

The above suggestions work best with added 38m terrain mesh, USA roads, or MegaScenery.

Great airport, great scenery, great hobby...

Enjoy!
