SCHWEIZER GLIDER PRIMARY
as it was in 1930
by John L Fleming

For those not familiar with the scenery library of Flight Sim. this is best done with the Simulator not running.

SCENERY INSTALATION:

In Flight Sim’s "SCENERY" folder place PEKSKILL.bgl
"PILOTS" folder place MERCURY GLIDER CLUB etc.STN
"TEXTURE" folder place Animal.R8
Grasss.R8
Airpt0o4.oav
Airpt0a4.oav
Airpt0p4.oav
Airpt0w4.oav

AIRCRAFT INSTALLATION:

Make a folder in the Flight Sim Aircraft folder and name it "SGP 1-1". Un-zip Sgp 1-1 into this folder. If Model, Sound, Panel and Texture folders don't show, make them.

In SGP 1-1 "Model" folder place model.cfg SGP 1-1.MDL
"Panel" folder place MINICONTROLS.BMP
panel.cfg
Schweizer2_32.bmp
"Sound" folder place sound.cfg
"Texture" folder place SGP_1-1_.0af
SGP_1-1_.1af
SGP_1_1_.2af
SGP_1-1_.3af

Files Aircraft.CFG and SGP 1-1.air stay in the main SGP 1-1 folder and are not placed in any of the four sub folders.

Now fire up your Simulator and go to FLIGHTS/SELECT FLIGHTS/MERCURY GLIDER CLUB PEEKSKILL NY 1930. This situation places you on a hill slightly north of Peekskill facing the west. Looking straight out in the distance you’ll see the Hudson River and down to the right a patch of green, that is your landing area. When you are ready to launch press the Y key. After the bungee launch and you’ll want to nose down right away and keep your airspeed at 28 knots all the way down. It will stall at 24 knots and shake in the high 30’s. A word of warning, if you nose over too far you will crash into the side of the hill. The gate must have been left open as there are cows all over the landing area, so pick a clear spot and good luck. Upon landing if you look to the south ( left ) you will be able to see the Palisades down river, just north of the Big Apple.

I would like to thank Russ Mueller for allowing me to modify and use the pilot from his ultralight. Many thanks to Dennis Simanaitis for answering promptly and with patience my many questions and last but not least my son John for introducing me to this great hobby.
