Aircraft Model : Boeing 737-200
Manufacturer : BOEING Aircraft
Type : Twin Jet Commercial Transport
MANUFACTURER : BOEING COMMERCIAL AIRPLANE GROUP

The Boeing 737 series was announced on February 19, 1965. The first Boeing 737-100 flew on
April 9, 1967 and the first Boeing 737-200 flew on August 8, 1967. Certification for the
Boeing 737-200 was given on December 21, 1967.

The Boeing 737-200 ADV (Advanced) was developed in 1969 to improve certain failings in the
basic model. These failings centred on the lack of fuel economy and range resulting from
too high a drag co-efficient, and on poor landing performance as a result of inefficient
thrust reversers and inadequate flaps. These shortcomings were addressed by improvements to
the wings and flaps and new thrust reversers from aircraft Line Number 135 onwards.
Modifications kits were available for earlier aircraft should the owner/operator require
these. First flight of the Boeing 737-200 ADV took place on April 15, 1971.

The Boeing 737-200 was replaced by the Boeing 737-500 in 1990.
