GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION: http://chileaustral.com/parenas/

Punta Arenas, at a southern latitude of approximately 54º, is the southernmost port city of Continental Chile, on the tip of South America. Even though it is not the southernmost city in the continent, it is the most important commercial, maritime, and urban Chilean center in the area. On the shores of the Straits of Magellan, in Tierra del Fuego, Punta Arenas has a strategic location as a seeport. Like most airports in this particualar geographical area, Carlos Ibañez del Campo has 3 runways, necessary not as much for its air traffic, as for the strong winds comming from different directions that are typical in the tip of the continent. I have not been in this part of my home country, so this scenery was made using plans, diagrams, and photos, only.

Puerto Williams is a Chilean military base on the Beagle Canal, almost on the very tip of the souther cone of South America. And, Guardiamarina Zañartu is the southern most airfield in the continent, and the world, as well.
