PAPUA CAMPAIGN INSTALLATION
By Matt Ingamells
DEFENCE OF AUSTRALIA
You must first download this campaign from "www.chapshq.com". This download is self-installing and easy to set-up. You will need both the scenery and aircraft. Since this is a popular add-on, I suspect that most CFS2 players already have it set up.
AIRCRAFT
The Papua Campaign uses stock aircraft, the Kittyhawk and Nell from DOA, the 1% P-39D-2, and Ki-21 Sally. All plane folders must be placed in the Aircraft Folder of CFS2.
1. Download the 1% P-39D-2 "1US_P-39D2.zip" from "www.avhistory.org", and follow the installation instructions. I did not include this in the download due to size limitations. Remember to install "FDGWeapons.zip" and "2.79effects.zip" included with the aircraft.
2. Unzip the Ki-21 "BR2_Sally.zip" included in this download (in the Aircraft folder), follow the installation instructions. Remember to install the damage profiles for the bombs in your CFS2 main folder under "Objects_DP" and weapons scenery ("Scenedb\weapons\scenery" and "Scenedb\weapons\texture").
3. Create a P-40E_USAAF by making a copy of the DOA Kittyhawk folder (P-40E_RAAF) and re-naming it "P-40E_USAAF". Open up the aircraft.cfg file in Wordpad of this new plane and change "title=P-40E_RAAF" to "title=P-40E_USAAF". Delete all files in the "Texture folder". Unzip "P-40E_USAAF.zip" and place all files in the Texture folder of P-40E_USAAF. Note the folder name must be exact, including case.
SCENERY
These files are located in the "Papua Scenery" folder of the download. Create a new folder (or add to an existing one) in "SCENEDB" in your main CFS2 folder, make subfolders labeled "scenery" and "texture". I call mine "Papua". Unzip "scenery.zip" and copy all files to the "scenery" subfolder". Unzip "texture.zip" and copy all files to the "texture" subfolder.
Add this folder to your CFS2 scenery library by starting CFS2, click "scenery library", clicking on "Add Area" and selecting "Papua" in the "scenedb" folder. Make sure it is added (X in check-box).
You will also need to add scenery objects for the airfields from Lindsay Watt (http://home.earthlink.net/~crismahn/cfs2index.html) under Accessories. These objects are found in "MR_LibObjs_Complete.zip" and "MR_Tree_Package.zip". These two files are needed for all airfields created by Maskrider, and may already be installed on your system.

You must add the following to your "Airbases.dat" in the "Info" folder of CFS2. The "xxx" refers to the runway numbers of your particular "airbases.dat" file and must be modified to be sequential. Make sure that you already don't have airfields with the same id nos. as listed below. All additions to "airbases.dat" must be made before the end of file marker (square symbol), and saved as a text file (not a word processor file such as *.doc).

MISSIONS
Unzip "Missions.zip" (found in the Campaign" folder) and copy all files to the "Campaign" folder of your CFS2 main folder. You can also copy them to the Missions folder to play them as single missions.
SOUND
The Campaign includes several mission-specific radio calls which are included in this download. Unzip "Action.zip" (found in the Sound folder of this download) and copy all seven *.wav files to the "Sound" folder of CFS2 under the "Action" subfolder.

CREDITS
The Ki-21 Sally was designed by Pascal Auterive and Bruno Duffort. The owner, Tal Donaldson granted approval for inclusion in this upload. The Sally provides realism to the Campaign, when older bombers were used by the Japanese to bomb Papau NG as Bettys were in short supply as the war heated up in the Solomons.
The Milne Bay and Wau airbases were provided by permission from Chris Westervelt and Lindsay Watt of Maskrider. The airbases are beautiful and presumably historically accurate, also providing realism to the Missions.
The P-40E Warhawk olive drab was painted by Dan Hamilton for use with the DoA Kittyhawk.
The Papua Campaign was developed by Matt Ingamells using Mission Builder. Any comments or questions can be sent to: mingamells@padreinc.com.
