Note for the "Alternative Sun-set" env_dusk_choice2.bmp

This texture env_dusk_choice2.bmp will offer an alternative choice to the look of the sun-set.

First note:

The default FS9 sun-set gives a very extra bright golden yellow sun-set with a blanket coverage of bright golds. As a result the transition from pre-sun-set to sun-set looks a little over done, albeit a very colourful experience, it is not that typical of real sun-sets.

It was for this reason I decided to make a less blanket coverage of "golds and yellows" for my version of the sun-sets included in this download. Both the versions I have done offer a more realistic sun-set that adds to the experience of flying.

The first version, which I suggest you try first - which is part of the 6 main *.bmp files - and will be installed by default with this package, makes for a browner softer tone, when compared to the default FS9 sun set, except for the area that looks more directly into the sun. It is a slighly cooler tone to the default FS9 sun-set. At sun-set; the surrounding waters, in my this version, are rendered a yellow/brown tone and gradually turn darker as the sun sets lower.

The second choice; (which existing users should note is sun set I included in version 6) the surronding waters are rendered a darker blue/brown tone that is much darker at the begining of the sun set than my first choice. The water suface away from the sun is a dark blue. It is less dramactic and probably more typical of most the sun sets we really see.

If you decide to use the second choice; go to the new textures folder in the PWover8.zip file then rename env_dusk_choice2.bmp to env_dusk.bmp then copied to the main Scenery\World\texture folder in FS9.

Of the 2 choices I use the first choice, the more golden yellow of my two sun sets, as it offers a more exciting feel than the second choice and sit in between the over cooked FS9 version and the less dramactic second choice I have done. Either way the choice is yours.

A good way to test out which looks best, in your eyes, is to start at the default flight; Seattle KSEA, which has lots of lakes and water to see. Get up in the air and over some water or pehaps use the default flight of scenic fligtht in FS9 which is a sun set over Hong Kong.

Once you have a sun set running in yoiur first choice, have a good look around, perhaps in spot plane view, and make a mental note of how it looks or you could do a screen capture. Then freeze FS9 and select the default fair weather which will trigger "overcast" conditions. With FS9 running go back to the desktop and copy over the next sun set file you want to try to the main Scenery\World\texture folder in FS9. Back in FS9 Reload the "clear skies" and now you should see what the next version of the sun set looks like. I would suggest you try this in differnt world areas and differnt times of the year if you want to be sure of your choice.

Perhaps some one could make a program that automactically switches the choice of both my sun-set and overcast textures when fS9 loads or during the game to give some variations to the game? If anyone is interested in doing this please contact me.

Hope you enjoy.
