Important note from the board:
------------------------------
We know very well that this aircraft never ever flew in these colours. And yes, we know that therefore this is not a 'realistic' simulation. But it could just as well be! So please do not email us with complaints about lack of faithfulness to the real thing. The liveries published in the virtual series of our Hermes are as close as possible to contemporary planes of the airline concerned. So enjoy!

In the special case of Caledonian, one Hermes airframe (G-ALDG, now at Duxford Museum) actually bore full Caledonian colours (with the fully blue tail) when serving them as cabin training facility. The other livery is made as closely as possible to Britannias of the period.

Installation in FS2002:
-----------------------
Extract the file to a temporary directory using WinZip or similar program making sure the paths option is turned on. Put the complete 'texture.cal' and 'texture.cld' folders into your 'FS2002\aircraft\HP81 Hermes' subfolder. cal and cld are three-letter-codes for the airline you downloaded to recognise it in FS2002.

Now browse to your 'FS2002\aircraft\HP81 Hermes' folder. There you will find a file named 'aicraft.cfg'. Open it by double-click (with wordpad or notepad); you will find the top of it divided into sections headed [fltsim.#], where # is a running counter beginning at 0. Scroll below the last of these (if this is your first Add-On texture for the Hermes, there will be only one such section). Copy and paste the following section there, leaving a line empty between sections.

[fltsim.#]
title=HP81 Caledonian1
sim=hp81

sound=
texture=cal

description=The HP.81 Hermes was a British long-range airliner for 40 passengers. \n Only 25 were built. Initial use with BOAC for two years only, re-activated after the Comet desaster. Later sold to a bunch of charter-carriers, such as Silver City, Skyways of London and likewise. \n None of these beauties is either in service or even complete. However, one frame (minus wings and stabilizers) survived as an cabin emergency trainer and is now on display at Duxford. \n GMAX model by Georg Hauzenberger, paint by Hans Hermann. v2.0 \n \n
atc_airline=bealine
atc_flight_number=123

atc_id=G-ALXX

[fltsim.#]
title=HP81 Caledonian2

Now replace the # at the top of the section with the NEXT running number (eg. 2 following 1 following 0 or 11 following 10 following 9). There must be no omissions! Save the file disregarding any pop-ups (for once say 'yes' to everything Windows wants to do) and exit.

That's it! If you have done everything properly, you should be able to find the new livery in your aircraft selection menu.

A note to experts: I know the above is trivial, but I hope there are some 'new' people out there as well...
