To fill the ballasts *better do that before flight!* 2 alternatives:
- Go to an airport apron area; stop on the yellow square and the ballasts will be automatically filled up to 100% which is 240 litres of water (240 Kg), 120 litres in each wing.
or - Switch momentarily to a power aircraft e.g. a default Cessna. Adjust the "Fuel" quantity to the desired % and switch back to the Nimbus 3.
Total FS Nimbus 3 weight with full ballasts: ca. 720 Kg.
High loads yield high cruising speeds when the lifts are strong and large. With weaker lifts, dump at least a part of the water. The digital reader shows the remaining water in one wing; double the reading to know the remaining ballast.
Before landing, dump ALL the ballast to avoid long landing run and possible overstress. Dumping water is slow: takes 1 second per litre, which is over 3.5 minutes for full ballast. Landing, especially off-field landings must be prepared in advance.
