After having done the Bell 206, I decide that it would be nice to do several more of the helicopters from the Bell family, so here is the 407. Utilising the successful airframe (with modifications) of the LongRanger, and using some of the more exotic materials availble to present day aviation designers, the Bell team have produced another superb machine, with the quieter 4 bladed head and fADEC equipped engine, this machine is sure to become as well recognised as its predecessors.

INSTALLATION, this ship is for FS98/2000
This aircraft comes already configured for FS98/2000. Unzip the file and place the aircraft folder in the aircraft directory of FS98/2000.
It utilised the standard fs98 bell panel and sounds which are already configured within the file and should work as long as you have not renamed the original bell 206 in FS.

Flying and controls

I have modified the air file to remove the unrealistic cross couple effect between the lateral cyclic and yaw pedals. (The original Bell model in FS98, although very good, produces a very unrealistic fuselage roll when pedal is applied in either direction.) However, here is a downside to this, you will find that you have a lot more yaw authority in the hover, and it only diminishes at speeds approaching 60kts, but I find this more realistic. So you may end up doing a bit of a Huey shuffle on your first few flights, but you should get the hang of it pretty quickly. The only real problem with the airfile is that if you hold in huge amounts of pedal for a few seconds, the ship will go into an irrecoverable rotation, then break.

lights and beacons function as normal from the keyboard, but to get the actual landing light bulb to light up, use the '/' key. I have done this to allow the ship to fly without the landinng light on, but with all pos strobe lights visable.

Although not a true shut-down, this ship will imitate it, if you throttle right back to ground idle on the engine, the blades will become visible, if you then hit the 'Q' key you get silence, OK, it's not great, but it it gives you a chance to see the ship at rest.
I take no credit for this little idea, Steve Forster has been mucking around with it for a while, and we tried it initially with the '/' key, but it complicated the manufacturing process, and caused some problems.

The transparent blade areas are courtesy of Alexander Remus (CIS: 100636,2067 Internet: 100636.2067@compuserve.com) who has developed a very quick and easy process for producing these, so again, I take no credit for this little gem that has greatly improved the visual appearance of these ships.

The landing lights are courtesy of Siggy Schwarz excellent LLADD package.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy it.
