FlightSim 98 BEECHCRAFT KING AIR C90 - N750HL
Release 1c

N750HL , a Beechcraft King Air C90 . The cabin is configured for 8 passengers. This model is intended for Flight Simulator 98. It can be used with FS2000 - however it is strongly recommended that you instead download the FS2000 version.

Release 1c incorporates a fix to the starboard main undercarriage door, and corrects a naming problem which resulted in the aircraft appearing untextured. SINCERE APOLOGIES to all those people who were inconvenienced by these errors.

The visual model is highly accurate.

The specifications given below are (approximately!) as for a model C90-1, and are at least representative if not entirely accurate for this model :-

The visual model was designed by Chris Lampard, working from photographs supplied by Louis Vosloo and Lee Hall. The flight model was adapted by Lee Hall from work by Steve Small and Michael Verlin. A photorealistic panel is under development, and will be released at a later stage.

NOTES:

Flight Model

The flight model appears to be approximately correct, but may need considerable tweaking to achieve full realism. It was derived partly from an excellent B200 file originally developed for ZS-KAA by Steve Small, and partly from a B90 AIR file developed jointly by Steve Small and Michael Verlin. (This AIR model is new in release 1c).

Additional Animation

The flaps and elevators are animated, but not ailerons or rudder. This was due to limitations in the visual model design software. Note that the rear door opens, and is operated by the spoiler key. This compromise was adopted to facilitate animation. There are unfortunately no landing lights.

Flight Testing

The Flight Model has not been extensively tested. However, the AIR file parameters have been adjusted to try to give a reasonable reflection of the performance of the real ZS-NWC. Fuel consumption is nominal 70 US gal/hr. Under test, consumption was 64 US gal/hr cruising at 220Kts TAS ast 17000', and was approximately 112 US gal/hr cruising at 220Kts TAS at 3000'. For some reason, the drag and flight surface geometry figures used gave a very high top speed, and in order to reduce this to a realistic level, the thrust was reduced to 1162 lb per engine.

Installation

Installation is very straightforward. Flightzip by Arnt Helge Haarland is STRONGLY recommended. If you have this utility, then simply use it to extract the aircraft from its zip file, and install it in Flightsim 98.

If you are using Winzip or a similar unzipping utility, then allow the program to unzip files to their specific folders. If you wish to unzip manually, then remember to place all files in their correct folders.

Lear Jet 45 panel and sounds are selected by default. However, there are a number of excellent sound and panel options available on the Internet, and these can considerably enhance your flying experience. Some day (!!) it is hoped that a photorealistic panel will be released for NWC. This will be based on NWC's actual panel. A preliminary mock-up of this is included with the documentation for this model (c90 panel(s).jpg). If anyone is interested in helping to speed up this project, please let me know!
