Private Aircraft Raytheon Hawker 400XP G-ERRY or N401XP

Repaint by Gerry McLaughlin (gmcl122@aol.com) January 2004

*******************************************************************************************

this is a repaint of Eaglesoft Development Group's magnificent Hawker 400XP, using the repaint kit available from Eaglesoft's site. It's meant to be a match for my Starship
but when I see the two aircraft together, this one seems slightly redder. However, I have decided not to change the colour, since small discrepancies between the colours on aircraft belonging to the same company happen in real life too!
If, like me, your name is Gerry, you'll probably be quite happy to keep the British registration (which comes with a Scottish flag rather than the Union Jack, but if you dont want that registration (or flag) you can instead use the American registration which is supplied too. This one comes with an Alaskan flag, instead of the Stars & Stripes, because that just looked like a pink blur unless you made it HUGE. I noticed when I was in Alaska some years ago, that some aircraft there carried the Alaskan flag, which is much easier to make small, so I chose to do that.
I didnt like the horrible brown and orange carpet in the original aircraft. I suppose the real thing would have a light grey, impractical carpet (I'm told by a friend that when he goes aboard a Biz-jet as part of his job he is often requested to use shoe protectors!) but
I decided on a nice tartan one - Maclachlan tartan actually. You needn't use the new interior texture if you dont want to.
Finally, I've also enclosed a new texture which makes the glass look slightly less shiny. The original looks fine on a light coloured fuselage, but on my dark red one, I think it needed to be dulled down a bit. Again, leave the existing texture in if you prefer. MAKE BACK-UPS OF THE INTERIOR AND GLASS FILES BEFORE ADDING MINE IF YOU ARE UNCERTAIN.

I dont have FS2004, so I advise you NOT TO USE THE NEW 'AIRCRAFT CONFIGURATION ' FILES ENCLOSED, as they are for FS2002. Instead, have a look at the changes I've made to install a new texture onto the existing model, and adapt your FS2004 config. file similarly.

Nothing in this ZIP should harm your computer, or the original download of the Hawker 400XP
but you take the risk! If, amazingly, you have downloaded this file without actually owning the Eaglesoft Hawker, get on line and buy it at once - it's really good, especially the sound file!

Installation FS2002
*******************.

First of all, navigate to the 'aircraft' folder of your FS2002/2004 installation and open
up the Eaglesoft Hawker 400 folder. Make a copy of the texture folder, and re-name it 'Texture.erry'(without the inverted commas!). Then open up the folder in this zip called
'Texture.erry' and take the files called'ESDG_bjfuse_T','ESDG_bjwingbot_T','ESDG_bjwinglt_T' and 'ESDG_bjwingrt_T' and move them into the new texture folder you've created in the Hawker file. If you want the tartan carpet and the slightly less shiny glass, move the other two texture folders as well. Otherwise, delete them.
Now - IF YOU HAVE FS2002 - take the original notepad file called 'aircraft' and, AFTER MAKING A BACK-UP, cut and paste the section on MY notepad file into it, immediately before the word [General]
If you prefer an American registration, open up the folder called 'alt US registration' and use the two files in there to over-write the British ones.

Installation FS2004
*******************

I don't have FS2004, so I can't help you with configuring your aircraft to accept the new texture. I imagine its just the same process as FS2002, but what I suggest you do is PRINT OUT my 'aircraft' notepad file and use the print-out to compare it to your existing Eaglesoft-produced 'aircraft' file.
You should be able to work out how to make the necessary changes. If you try it yourself, and it doesn't work, first of all go through the altered config. file line by line, making sure you have altered it correctly.

TO HELP YOU, I point out what changes I made for FS2002. First of all, I selected the section marked [fltsim.0] and 'copied and pasted' it in immediately before [General].
Then I added 'Paint1' (without the inverted commas' to the title line, put 'erry' against
the texture=,and typed in the registration without any spaces, beside atc_id=

Thats all I did.

One Other point
***************

I think the huge cloud of smoke which comes off the tyres when you touch down is very un-realistic. I suggest you substitute the small 'puff' which you get from the Cessna.
I watch planes a lot, and even a 747 will barely make a cloud of smoke like the Hawker has.
The change is made by adding '_s' after 'tchdwn' in the EFFECTS section of the configuration file, but I'll leave you to do that yourself.

Eaglesoft obviously. I've had this plane for a few weeks now, and I must say it is one
of the best aircraft available for FS2002. I havent found a single glitch, it flies like
a dream, and the sound file is the best ever. I have travelled on the flightdeck of aircraft
many times, and I noticed that the crew always say 'thousand to go' when they are climbing or descending to a new level. This is the only flightsim aircraft I've ever found that does that too! OK, it costs a few bucks, but I think its worth it.

You know all this! Dont try and sell it, dont put it on a site that charges. Especially,
dont upload any part of the programme other than the repainted texture files.

Have fun flying!
