FSX / FS2004 generic photoreal old style jet fighter panel, by Pat Grange. January 2007.

Suitable for any kind of jet fighter from the fifties or sixties (Mirage, Saab Draken, Super Sabre, Starfighter, etc ...). Made for you if you are tired with EFIS, glass cockpits and digital things and if you prefer the typical look of those old cockpits used during the Cold War ... To my opinion, such a 2D panel was cruelly missing in FSX !

This panel has been made from an old photoreal bitmap I once used to make a Saab Draken panel for FS2000, an I completely redesigned it for full compatibility with both FSX and FS2004. I used a mix of stock gauges and other free gauges cherry-picked on the net.

I insist on FS2004 compatibility because I have chosen, like many other people, to stick to FS2004 for the moment, considering that FSX is not yet a convenient product for the current CPU speeds that most of us are using.

INSTALLATION:

Unzip the complete file "old_fighter_panel_fsx", you will obtain 2 folders : "panel" and "gauges".

Just copy the gauges files (6 files, contained in the just created gauges folder) in the "gauges" folder of you Flight Simulator. This folder is either "Microsoft Flight Simulator X / Gauges" (for FSX) or "Flight Simulator 9 / Gauges" for FS2004. Normally, you should already have some of these gauges. So, if asked to overwrite, please ANSWER NO.

Put the content of the panel folder in the PANEL directory of the aircraft of your choice in your "aircraft" folder ("Microsoft Flight Simulator X / SimObjects / airplanes" fo FSX or "Flight Simulator 9 / Aircraft" fo FS2004.

Now, you can launch FSX or FS2004.

By the way, with FSX, when launching this aircraft for the first time, you could be asked a couple of times (in fact for several "old" gauges files) "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software" Just answer "Yes" ont each time. Then you will be asked a second question "do you want to define this module as a confidence software". Just answer "Yes" again. Repeat this operation until the flight really starts. For the following flights, you will no longer have these questions.

Now, take-off, and enjoy !
