******** Ultralight Machine FLY SYNTHESIS STORCH 582 CL powered by Rotax 582 **************
******** FSDS model for MSFS 2002 ONLY ****************
*** by Stefano Vele * e-mail: velestefano@tin.it ***

HISTORY
=======
My first flight simulator was a Microsoft software made for the Commodore 64 about 20 or more years ago.

Then I have bought all the others Microsoft's simulators until now (FS2002PRO), but it's too difficult to fly with the big aircrafts like Boeing, Airbus ecct.

In the top websites, like SurClaro and SurClaro.com, it's impossible to find an ultralight machine to fly (I found only the t-bird.zip and the savannah.zip).

After the upload of the beatiful "friuli_2.zip" scenery (the italian region where I live) where are inserted all the ultralight's strips, I have thought to build a ultralight machine to use as training in the raining days.

So I have bought FS Design Studio, Aircraft Animator and FS Panel Studio. Then I have taken more of 200 digital photos of my ultralight machine.

Because this is my first attempt to built a aircraft, I had to do a miscellaneous of gauges, aircraft.cfg, *.air ecct., downloaded in many years because I'm unable to built it.

After many attempts I have done this model for me and for all the flightsimmers that, like me, don't like to fly the big aircrafts.

I'd like to thanks all the authors of the files that I have used. If there someone, who wants me to remove his creation , just let me know and I'll do it. I don't want to have any hard feelings with anyone....

FSDS Model
==========
In Fs Design Studio I have used the fuselage's tubes with 32 points.

The model has the following moving parts: propeller, ailerons, elevators, rudder, rolling wheels and steerable nose wheel, strobe light, nav and landing lights.

To finish the model I have done 174 parts. Refer the moving parts I have used AA Aircraft Animator and SDL Edit. The "fsc" file (2.67 MB) and the "macros" too are available on request.

Programs: FS Design Studio v. 1.6 by Abacus Computer: Pentium III 800 mhz
AA Aircraft Animator by Abacus RAM 256 MB
SDL Edit v. 2.12 by Mike Crosthwaite ASUS AGP-V7100 32MB
FS Panel Studio v. 1.1 by Ed Struzynski CH USB Yoke and Pedals
Gaubzr.exe v. 1.1 by Benjamin Chen
Gaubmp2.exe by Chuck Dome

REAL AIRCRAFT
=============
The Storch is a ultralight machine very popular in Italy where more of 300 are flying.

Easy to fly, is used by many ULM flight schools. Usually is powered by a Rotax 582, but some models are equipped with Jabiru 80 HP or Rotax 912.

The specifications are reported in the STORCH_582CL_ref.txt (refer my ultralight only, because the new models are just a little differents).

For any further information you can visit the site:
http://www.flysynthesis.com

VIRTUAL AIRCRAFT
================
I have tried to built the model the most possible adherent to the reality (you can check the difference in the DOCUMENTS/SCREENSHOTS folder).

In the real aircraft I have the flaperons instead of the flaps and three fuel tanks instead of two.

SETTINGS
========
The best resolution is 1024x768x32, FULL SCREEN and 1.50 ZOOM.

FLYING
======
Because the aircraft.cfg and the *.air file are not exact for this ultralight, you have to fly with the following rules and use often the trim as for as in the reality:

1. take off : flap set to 15°
trim set to full climb
full power
rotate at 75/80 kmh
flap up at 100 kmh
trim neutral as required
rpm at 3500/4000
2. cruise : trim neutral as required
rpm at 4500/5000
2. approach : speed less than 100 kmh
3500/4000 rpm
flap set to 15°
trim to climb as required
3. landing : speed 70/80 kmh
full flap (30°)
trim to climb as required

More informations in the STORCH_582CL_check.txt

PANEL
=====
For a better visibility and reality I have splitted the cockpit in two parts: Main and Lower cockpit.

In the MAIN you'll find all the navigation gauges, in the LOWER all the starter and switches gauges.

Two gps are included, the Garmin pilot 3 as for as in the reality and one Avmap (because the Garmin is too small to read).
In the PANEL/DOC folder you can find the gps's manuals.

The starter procedure is same same the real:
1. Open the two fuel selectors (check that your MIXTURE is ON)
2. Turn ON the battery key
3. Turn ON the Magneto 1 and 2
4. Push the starter button

Please check the "jpg" files in the PANEL/DOC folder refer all the commands and the toggle switches.

If you'd like to see the fixed window "UP", you have to make the following changes in the OPTIONS - CONTROL - ASSIGNMENTS - BUTTON KEYS - Event category - view commands of your FS2002:
Look ahead "SHIFT + 5(Tn) * Look up "SHIFT + 8(Tn)".

INSTALLATION
============
Unzip the file in a temporary folder (where do you want) then:
MOVE the "582CL" folder in your FS2002 AIRCRAFT folder
OPEN the "GAUGES" folder and MOVE all the files with extension *.gau in the FS2002 GAUGES folder
That's all.

If you'd like to have the brake sounds, you must have the "hghbbrks.zip" by HGHB (the gauge's position is just inserted in the panel.cfg because it's one of the most popular gauge and I think that all the flightsimmers have this gauge).
Anyway the zip file is included in the PANEL/DOC folder.

Refer the sound, I suggest to use one of the following 2 files:
"c152snds.zip" by Aaron R. Swindle "Skysong Soundsworks" made for the "Cessna 152 Soundpackage for FS2000" or
"rotax_503_sounds.zip" by Hennie van Rooyen.

Refer the modules, I don't know if the old "FSSound.dll" has to be installed, so, if you need it, read the file "PLEASE READ.txt" by Fred Banting in the MODULES folder (FSSound.dll included).

Refer the effects, no effects are included, this for a better frame rate.
If somebody likes to have the effects, you can find it on the bottom of the "aircraft.cfg" file.
You have to delete the ";" in every lines, then download the following files: "mmltfx.zip" by Marcel Felde and "b58smoke.zip" by Andreas Feilner, Kyle Bateman and Owen Hewitt.

UNINSTALL
=========
Delete the "582CL" folder in your FS2002 AIRCRAFT folder
Delete all the "582CL_*.gau" in your FS2002 GAUGES folder
Delete the "brakes sound" and the "FSSound.dll" if installed with this aircraft (check the relative instructions).

CREDITS
=======
FLIGHT DYNAMICS
===============
Because I'm unable to make the aircraft.cfg and the *.air file, I have revised just a little the files that I found on an other ultralight machine "t-bird.zip" by Jeridan Light.

Many thanks to him. If someboby likes to make a new *.cfg. and *.air file, please e-mail me and I'll send him the "fsc" file.

GAUGES
------
No only one gauges are mine, but I had to repaint all the gauges to make it similar as soon as possible to the real gauges.

I have taken the gauges from the freeware aircrafts and panels downloaded for FS98, 2000 and 2002 too.

I have renamed all the gauges with 582CL_xx.gau, so if somebody don'ts like the aircraft and wants to unistall it, this is easier.

So I want to thank all the following developers for the hard work to built the gauges.

I tried to contact by e-mail a lot of them, but I think some e-mail address old.

Moreover for some gauges it's impossible to get the e-mail adress because in many years I have downloaded a lot of files and I have no more the original zip files.
