FS2002 Mikoyan-Gurevich MIG-25 'Foxbat'
---------------------------------------

HISTORY
-------
I have (for some reason) always been fascinated by this awesome (and horrible) airplane. The Foxbat
still has an almost mythical reputation due to the limited, yet astonishing, information available.
The plane was designed to match the supposed threat the former USSR saw in the US' experimental
mach 3 bomber, the XB-70 Valkyrie - a plane I'm equally fascinated by. When the XB-70 program was
cancelled, the Foxbat project moved on producing one of the fastest interceptor ever built.

The maximum speed was really impressive for an interceptor; mach 3 in bursts, mach 2.8 for longer periods.
However, when confronted with the manoeuvrability one can hardly classify this airplane as an interceptor.
Try to steer, sitting on a huge log downstream in a river!

The story goes that the US Navy one time spotted an object doing mach 3 on the radar. Thinking this was
a missile, tension was high but nothing happened. The object disappeared. Later the same day US intelligence
learned that a Mig-25 had landed not far from where the object was spotted. The engines were totally
damaged beyond repair.

DESIGN
------
This plane was built from scratch using Flight Sim Design Studio Pro and the excellent CfgEdit to make the
panel. All animation and texturing in GMAX

This is a new release of a FS2000-version I made last year.
When I got GMAX I decided to make a FS2002-version brand new textures and reanimating it in GMAX

TIPS
----
The plane is reported to be really awkward to fly, so I have tried reflect this in the .air. It is supposed
to be an extremely slow turner so I have actually cheated a bit and made this a bit easier. (not much)
You will probably get frustrated trying to land this machine due to the rediculously high panel (as the
real plane) but it is possible to drag the panel down a bit to compensate. Another thing that really annoyed
me is that I can't seem to crack the mach 3 limit (only 2.94) so if anyone knows the trick, PLEASE email me.
(If you actually bothered to read this far!)
Remember to get to about 30000ft before going for mach 2-3 (and avoid the shaking)
The ceiling for this plane is in real life 80000ft (I've even heard a ceiling of 114000ft) but FS2002 probably won't care.

INSTALLATION
------------
Plain and simple as usual. Unzip and place the 'MIG25'-folder in ../FS2002/aircraft and the 'gauges'-folder in ../FS2002/gauges
You know the drill.

CREDITS
-------

To Abacus for making an expensive, but important and awesome toy. To Ed Struzynski for CfgEdit and William
Roth for AirEd.
And of course to Discreet for GMAX
I will NOT thank Microsoft for the horrible, manual-less MakeMDL
Rick Brown for the panel.

Needless to say, FREEWARE.

Fly On!!
