FS2004 Default DC-3 Repaint

Thanks for downloading my very 1st repaint!!! It’s my attempt at a tribute to Ken Borek Air
Ltd. of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

I cannot be held accountable for any damage, imagined or real which is caused by this
package, you are wholly responsible for anything that happens due to the use of this
package. Please do not copy my textures or use any part of them without my permission. I had
some problems with the default textures being blurry so this repaint is done to avoid
that...sorry if it doesn't appear correctly on your system. I didn't modify the alpha
channel so reflections are what they are for now. I may add a modified version later, or
not. As well, I didn't put the tail number where it really is, I just added it to the
aircraft.cfg as the default location is close enough.
Feel free to modify or fix my work, just give me credit where it’s due.
This here is freeware and should not be included in any commercial packages or charged for
in any way...no $ for me, no $ for u...just a fun part of the hobby.

And speaking of credit, I should include a bunch here.

Thanks to Martin Wright for his DXTBmp.exe texture creation/edit tool...it works like a
charm!!! Please check out his site at www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/index.htm

Huge thanks to Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont for his blank DC-3 texture files...it's where I
started and they were a great help. Check them out, the file name is DC3PAINT.zip and can be
found on www.SurClaro. Mark also lists this site in his file. www.swiremariners.com/dc3.html

Tony Gould was a big help in me understanding the blurred default texture problem and the
simple fix for it...thanks for the emails and your work eh! (Sorry, can you tell I'm a
Canadian?) Look for his fixes on www.SurClaro

Have a look at www.airliners.net if you haven't already! There's a whole lot of excellent
photography on there. Be advised though, it's all copyrighted by the owner and rightly so.
I referred to a few of the pictures on there when doing my paint so I'll let ya all in on
which ones to look for to see how I did...

To install:

1. Make a copy of one of the texture folders in FS2004 under the DC-3.
Say, D:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\Douglas_DC3\texture

2. Rename it texture.kbair

3. Copy Douglas_DC3_1_T.bmp from my download and paste it in the texture.kbair folder
overwriting the original.

4. Open the aircraft.cfg file in the Douglas_DC3 folder and add the following after the last
fltsim.x entry and replace the .x with the next number.

[fltsim.x]
title=Douglas DC-3 Ken Borek Air
sim=Douglas_DC3
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=kbair
kb_checklists=Douglas_DC3_check
kb_reference=Douglas_DC3_ref
atc_id=C-GGKG
ui_manufacturer=Douglas
ui_type="DC-3"
ui_variation="Ken Borek Air Ltd"
description="The Douglas DC-3 revolutionized air transportation and airline service during
the 1930s and 1940s. It was a luxury airliner that boasted cabin heat and running water in
its on-board lavatory. With the right balance of efficiency, range, speed, and payload, the
DC-3 was the first aircraft to earn a profit for its owners just by carrying passengers. The
hero of early airlines, a handful of DC-3s are still at work today. This would be one of
those in service"

And save the aircraft.cfg file.

5. Open FS2004 and see if it is there under the DC-3, it should be...enjoy!
