The following files are self extracting!Unzip the file"RAF_Lyneham" to your fs9 root directory.This will install the following folders;-

1.Addon Scenery\RAF Lyneham (contains the scenery & Textures).
2.Scenery\world\scenery\Traffic (contains the traffic AI).
3.Aircraft\"c130"319"katana"737" (the AI traffic).
4.Addon scenery\RAF Lyneham\pictures
Next start flightsim9 and on the settings screen go to "scenery Library" and on "RAF Lyneham" found in the Addon Scenery folder.Restart fs9!

Or alternatively add the following line to your"scenery.cfg"

[Area.0xx]
Title=Lyneham
Active=TRUE
Layer=xx
Local=Addon Scenery\RAF Lyneham

where xx is the next number in line ie;-for example if the last entry was

[Area.038]
Title=Addon Scenery
Local=Addon Scenery
Remote=
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=38

then you would put"39" as the next in line so that the following would be shown;-

[Area.039]
Title=Lyneham
Active=TRUE
Layer=39
Local=Addon Scenery\RAF Lyneham.

Havefun!!

SOME NOTES:

This folder contains all the scenery detail for the Royal Air Force base in Wiltshire,England,home of the C130 Hercules."RAF Lyneham" was created by David Mackie Jan2005 after an exhausting years research and personal observations on and off the base!.The main intention was to model the base more accurately than the default Microsoft effort.The main items were to install the correct hangers,Terminal and control tower.The Hangers were a massive labour of love and a pain to try and get the right feel inside and out.I am happy with the open look of several of the hangers which also include parking bays used by the AI traffic for that authentic look and feel.These hangers are as Lyneham looks today!I then moved onto the Terminal,again accurately modelling the shape as it is today after several extensions over the years.Behind the terminal is the air movements and to the right extra buildings that exist on the base.Behind these are the familliar water towers,squadrons and flightsims(3 c130 & 1 C130J).These buildings and other misc buildings are drawn at a lower resolution to preserve frame rates.To the south lies the RAF housing of"Melsome,now surrounded by trees and a grass wall to mute the noise from the base.Next came the control tower,again modelled in a higher resolution right down to stairway and fire station.Further to the south is the AirDespatch hangers.On the gate is the "gateguard"comet2 from the 60s'XK699.There are 4 Hercules squadrons based here.When I lived here in 1974 the base also had Bristol Britannias and DeHavilland Comet4cs'.
I spent many years flying on all of these aircraft as an air cadet accumalating thousands of hours.I also regularly used to jump in the sims which were great.In those days the sims were more primitive,especially the Britannia which had no moving "platform deck".The comet had a moving platform but had no screen.The hercs had full motion with great scenery based on a camera moving over a replica of Lyneham and if I remember right"Ghan". I fondly remember the comets wicked accelaration with an empty payload and roar on takoff with just me and a mate in the passenger compartment as we did "circuit & bumps",now called touch n gos'!On another occation I had a nasty fright while standing behind the pilot on the left in a C130 on takoff when an engine failed swinging the aircraft wildly from side to side for a moment while the pilot used rudder to counter the torque induced and feathered the offending engine!I even got to sit at the controls on one flight over cornwall.Brilliant,!Ahh,happy memories.Alas,the base is to close within a few years with the c130s'moving to Brize Norton!

Framerate issues. All textures have been saved as DXT mipmaps to offer the best performance/quality solution.The scenery has been saved with various detail levels offered.The AI aircraft offer the biggest impact on framerate especialy with all aircraft enable.This is easily solved by reducing the traffic density or simply removing some the aircraft in the Aircraft.cfg file found in the folder Aircraft\AI-C130.The fs9extras bgl offers the misc scenery such as static aircraft,etc.Again by experimentation one can get a good compromise.On my system ;-P4 3Ghz,6600GT,512meg. I get rates that sit on 35consistently with the lock set on 35 with full scenery activated.If I enable all the C130 traffic this plummets to around 18-24.
