Hokitika Airport, New Zealand.V2 for FS2K2 & FS9.

INTRODUCTION:

Hokitika is a small town situated on the West Coast of the south island of New Zealand and
was first settled in the 1860’s following the discovery of gold. It developed into a thriving mining town and an important port. The first settlers were John Hudson and James Price who set up a store on the banks of the Hokitika River in 1865 to cater for the miners pouring in following the gold strike in 1864. In 1866, with a population of more than 6000 the town was almost twice it’s present size. People were either digging for gold along the banks of the river or servicing the gold mining industry which had spread along rivers in the region.

Today there is a thriving craft industry in the town, with artists working in greenstone (jade) gold, glass, wood, and clay. There are weavers and painters also.

GENERAL:

This scenery has been built from scratch. All default Rwys and objects have been excluded in order to create this scenery as a mirror to the real airport.

Some liberties have been taken in adding an extra taxiway from the terminal area, south to Runway 4, so that AI aircraft will taxi correctly to that Rwy. Also a turning area for AI aircraft has also been added 2/3rds of the way down Rwy 4/23 in order to speed up the taxiing to the terminal area.

SPECIAL THANKS:

Many thanks go to Albie Rose, for with his valuable input, as this scenery would not have attained a reasonable degree of accuracy without Albies local knowledge of the airport.

Also to Trevor Golding my illustrious beta tester...who kept sending me back to the drawing board with the message "get it right will ya".....thanks Trev, I owe ya heaps!

INSTALLATION:

Just unzip this scenery file to your Addon Scenery folder or where ever you put your addon sceneries for FS2K2 & FS9. Ensure that "use folders names" is checked in your unzip utility.

A new folder will be created called "Hokitika-2004" along with the required subfolders. Go into your FS2K2 or FS9 Scenery Library and activate Hokitika 2004 scenery.

Then go into your main FS2k2 or FS9 directory and scroll down until you come to the scenery .cfg, open it in notepad , again scroll down until you find this entry :

[AREA.xxx]
Title=Hokitika
Layer=238
Active=TRUE
Local=E:\Addon Scenery\Hokitika\scenery
Remote=
Required=FALSE

then add the following Exclude & Flatten switches to the end of that entry.

Exclude=S42 42.6,E170 58.56,S42 43.36,E170 59.75,all
Flatten.0=149,S42 42.78,E170 59.13,S42 43.08,E170 59.4,S42 43.32,E170 58.89,S42 43.01,E170 58.63

The result should look something like this:

[AREA.xxx]
Title=Hokitika
Layer=238
Active=TRUE
Local=E:\Addon Scenery\Hokitika\scenery
Remote=
Required=FALSE
Exclude=S42 42.6,E170 58.56,S42 43.36,E170 59.75,all
Flatten.0=149,S42 42.78,E170 59.13,S42 43.08,E170 59.4,S42 43.32,E170 58.89,S42 43.01,E170 58.63

Save your editing, then fire up FS2k2 or FS9
