On the 15 April 1952 the 5° Stormo C.B.(Caccia-Bombardieri-Fighter-bombers) of the Aeronautica Militare Italiana (A.M.I.) received his first jets, the Republic F-84G Thunderjets. On the 1st February 1953 the Stormo, based at Villafranca di Verona in Northern Italy, changed his name and organization in 5a Aerobrigata C.B. based on 3 Groups: the 101°, 102°, 103°, and, after an intensive training program, was certified as "combat ready". On 1st June 1953 the 5a Aerobrigata was charged to form the first national post-war aerobatics team, named "Guizzo" (Flash), from the radio-call of the 103° Gruppo. The formation was composed by 4 aircraft piloted by Magg. Deggiovanni (leader), Mar. Pillepich, Ten. Bladelli, Cap. Marsilli and by Serg. Magg. Birago. The team took part in exhibitions also abroad and at Soesterberg (Holland), for the first time in history, performed the famous aerobatics "bomb".

This particular aircraft represents one of the four machines that formed the demonstration team "Guizzo", then "Getti Tonanti" (the grandfather of the today's renowned Italian National Team "Frecce Tricolori"). The rounded image after the identification numbers on the nose represents the "Huntress Diana", the official badge of the 5a Aerobrigata (now today again named "5° Stormo").

I repainted it and modified the air file, reducing the quantity of fuel on board to improve, as possible, maneuverability for aerobatics (as done in real life) and increasing the engine thrust from 5000 lbs (Allison J35-A-17 of the "E" series) to 5600 lbs of the Allison J35-A-29 of the "G" series. The mods. to the air file were made with use of the utility of W.Roth "AirEd". I suggest to replace the original panel with the one by Mike Eustace, that is, for me, more realistic (you may search for "Thunderjet" at Simviation.com) and download also a more proper sound (e.g. from Alphasim.com (free) or Simviation/SurClaro).
To activate the speedbrake press "ù" or "/" on the keyboard (without commas).
I made this particular aircraft as part of "History of a pilot" pack of missions (available at http://web.tiscalinet.it/AnghinelliPD/), dedicated to the memory of WWII Italian ace Gen. Alessandro Bladelli, recently passed away.
