I think you too have experienced this situation in the Germany-Scenery of FS98, there are no airports in Germany. I´m not talking about Munich or Hamburg, what I´m looking for are the airports and airstrips of Bremerhaven, Heringsdorf and my home base Oldenburg-Hatten (EDWH). VFR in a single engine Cessna or Piper and not IFR at 32 000 feet in an AIRBUS, that´s the way I like flight simulations. It was the GLOBAL BASE SCENERY PROJECT (GBS) of Mathias Weidemann that gave me the idea to design some small airstrips for use with GBS. It´s really not a problem with AIRPORT 2.10 (thank´s to Paul Meziat and Manfred Moldenhauer). What I wasn´t aware of was how time consuming it is to teach myself the basics. ;-)

Based on the BOTTLANG AIRFIELD MANUALS (JEPPESEN) and the Pilots-Pocket Book (Luftfahrtverlag Friedrich Schiffmann) I have designed some airstrips for the northern part of Germany. Partitioning of the airports is based on the ICAO-Charts of DEUTSCHE FLUGSICHERUNG
(DFS). That means, you will find some airstrips (50) of ICAO VFR-Chart "Hamburg" in the file Ger98Hamburg.zip.

It´s really a basic VFR-Scenery, no bells no whistles, don´t expect to much, it´s my first attempt. Taxiways are designed as coloured "Roads", invisible at dawn, dust and night, keep that in mind when you are doing your flight planning, or you won´t find your way to the terminal.

Content

You will find ...

50 airports of VFR-Chart "Hamburg" in the file Ger98Hamburg.zip
20 airports of VFR-Chart "Rostock" in the file Ger98Rostock.zip
56 airports of VFR-Chart "Berlin" in the file Ger98Berlin.zip
the needed textures in the file Ger98Texture.zip
the completedocumentation in HTML in the file Ger98Dok.zip

Installation

The Germany 2000 - Scenery will work with the standard Europe Scenery of FS98, but is designed to work with the GLOBAL BASE SCENERY PROJECT (GBS) of Mathias Weidemann. You should have installed at least the following files of the GBS PROJECT:

GBS2CE82.zip, GBS2CE84.zip, GBS2CE86.zip, GBS2txr.zip und GBS2DOC.zip

These files you can download from Compuflight.Com at http://volftp.tin.it/flight-sim/

You have to have installed ....

Airport 2.10 textures, Apt210.zip von Pascal Meziat, Manfred Moldenhauer
VOD textures, Vodtex27.zip von Rafael Garcia Sanchez
ASD textures, Asdtextu.zip von Peter Jacobson

Let´s talk about how to ...

Install the GBS-Scenery files in a folder under X:\FS98\Scenery (the original, main MS scenery folder), the FS98 Europe-Scenery should be installed on your hard disk too, it will give you some better
performance. Here the way I did it on my hard disk:

X:\FS98\Scenery\gbs-ce\scenery\*.bgl Regional
texture\empty

X:\FS98\Scenery\europe\scenery\*.bgl Regional

The GBS-Texture file has to be installed in the main texture folder of FS98 (e.g. X:\FS98\texture\), here you will keep also all of the texture files from AIRPORT, VOD and ASD and the files from
Ger98Texture.zip !!!

On my hard disk I have arranged the german folders in the following order:

X:\Germany\Ger98Ham\scenery\*.bgl Local
texture\empty

X:\Germany\Ger98Ros\scenery\*.bgl Local
texture\empty

X:\Germany\Ger98Ber\scenery\*.bgl Local
texture\empty

X:\Germany\Ger98Dok\ *.html
images\ *.gif

Have a nice flight. If you like this scenery send me a postcard of your home base. If you don't like it, make some detailed proposals, and don't forget the "How to". I may need some help with this translation too. ;-)
