History:

This is my first scenery. I must admit that I have never been to Cardiff (even if I have Welsh surname!), so please excuse any errors that you may observe (see Poetic Licence below). As this project was to be freeware, I intended (and succeeded) to spend zero cash on it (save for my time). First thanks to Mikko Pakkanen for putting an airport chart on the web, second to the authors of Airport 2.10, without which this scenery would not have been created, and thirdly to Landings.com for Airport Records. In addition to the airport (which by the way, is about 10 miles to the SW of Cardiff), I have added some urban blocks to represent Barry, Barry Island, Penarth, and Cardiff. Two pictures are enclosed one showing night approach from the west and the other a day approach from the east. Small GIF created with a hover in a Wessex. Look for the Lighthouse and boats in Cardif docks.

Poetic Licence:
Some data I was unable to find, so have been invented by me and are annotated by a [PL], in addition, the maps I found did not show any pictures, so the logos on the hangers may not be correct, but they look better than just a plain building. I have also added an tank and re-fuelling area, to enable you to re-fuel anfter a long flight.

Installation:

Create a subdirectory called Cardiff in your FS98 scenery directory. Unzip all the files into this folder - it will automatically create the subdirectories.

To activate the scenery, start up FS, and choose the scenery library from the World menu. Click OK to the warning, then select files...

Click add, the enter the full path to the Cardiff scenery directory. In FS98 it might look something like this:

C:\Program Files\Flight Simulator\Scenery\Cardiff\Scenery\*.bgl
(or you can use the shortcut form =:\=\Scenery\Cardiff\Scenery\*.bgl)

Call the Scenery Cardiff or similar, set the scenery to Local, Check 'Active', then click OK three times.

In the Goto Airport dialog box, you will need to select "Scenery from 6.0 and before" button to find the airport.

Legal Stuff:

These files are FREEWARE, and are made available on an as-is basis. They have been well tested, but no gaurantee is either implied or expressed that they will work. Please don't include them in any commercial packages, or any pay-ware.

BGL file (C) 1999 Ron Jones. Texture files are standard textures from FS and Airport.
