THIS PLANE REQUIRES FS2000, WHICH IS A COMMERCIAL PROGRAM YOU HAVE TO BUY.

The Caravelle is one of my favorites for a long time. It is sleek and graceful
looking ac with in her design many "firsts" that become later standard on later ac such as a
T-tail, rear mounted engines, rear mounted integral airstairs etc..

This aircraft with reg nr. HB-ICW "Solothurn" was originally built for SAS but
leased to Swissair in 1960. Swissair eventualy became owner in 1965. In 1969
this aircraft was sold to Transavia Holland. The nosesection can today be seen
in the Aviodome museum in the Netherlands.

Using FSDS designingtools it was possible to make it a better aircraft then my previous version.
It now shows 3D tubine inlets with rotating turbine blades, transparent cockpit steerable nosegear,
new 512x512 textures with nightlight capabillities and improvement on some parts such as
speedbrakes above and below the wing, flaps, aileron, elevator, rudder, opening rear airstair and
above all a braking parachute.

FLYING THE CARAVELLE
Some remarks in advance. Remember the Caravelle a first generation jet not
the default 737-400. Compared to it she is underpowered.
So during take off V1 is at 129 knots, rotate her at 134 knots.
Keep your nose up between five and ten degrees and all should go well.
At 50 ft gear up then let her accelerate to 180 knots where you retract the flaps.
Climbout at about 230 knots. Maximum speed below 10.000 ft is 250 knots
The cruising altitude is 28000 ft at a cruise speed of 300 knots(Vne is 320 knots)
280 knots was often preferred by most companies due to the ferrocious appetite
for jet fuel of the Rolls Royce Avons
Remember to reduce the rate of climb several times above 15000 ft during your
climb to cruising altitude as she is underpowered.

Descent is fairly easy with the use of the speedbrakes as these where designed
to be operated at cruise speeds!!
With it you achieve rate of descent of about 2500/3000 ft/m
Aproach speed is 150 knots with full flaps and gear down.
After landing hit the spoiler key and the brake parachute gets deployed!
Remember the brakes are not that powerfull so a long runway is very nice ;-)
