"Colby Lake"

Bush Pilot Scenery for FS98 (only)

Created By: Mr. Ken "WeBad" Nelson

********************************************************************************************

Thanks for downloading this scenery design made for FS98. Since FS2K came out, I've been
trying to install my other FS98 scenery's into it, however, I've had no luck doing this.
So I created this scenery for FS2K first, then converted it to FS98. About the time I was
finishing the original scenery project, I recieved a phone call and ya wouldn't believe who
it was. Well, my oldest son, Philip, called to announce the birth of his first son COLBY.
Hense, here's "Colby Lake.".

********************************************************************************************

:::::DISCRIPTION and COMMENTS:::::

COLBY LAKE, is a created lake. Here you'll find many homes and hunting/fishing cabins.
Excellent for testing your bush pilot skills, the 1000 foot long dirt runway is surounded
by the mountains and trees so not so large aircraft can land there. However, large or small
seaplanes can land and take-off with ease. I've added many wild animals including Bear,
Dear, Elk, and Moose. The camp fires are kept lit to ward off attacking bears.

From Colby Lake, it's only 27 miles to Anchorage,AK at bearing 345 degrees. ADF was added
to aid in locating Colby Lake. ADF radio frequency: 500khz

For the time being, I'm finding FS98 scenery much easyer to work with. However, in time
I'm sure Microsoft will come out with a scenery SDK for FS2K which will aid very much with
designing scenery for it. I do have both FS98 and FS2K installed because there's still much
I prefer with FS98. In the future, I'll be still creating scenery for FS98 so keep your
eyes open for even more Bush Pilot Scenery from me.

:::::ACKNOWLEDGMENTS:::::

A Big thanks to Brian McWilliams and the entire Flight Sim Group for creating the Scenery
design program Airport 210 which I used to create this scenery. The APT210 program is a
freeware program and is really quite easy to use. Please go to the Flightsimgroup home page
at: http://www.flightsimgroup.com/ and check it out.

And another thanks goes to Mark Remien. With his Animal Macros, I was able to add the
Wildlife and camp fires around the Lake. "Thanks Mark"

Again, I find myself using those great scenery Macros made by Dan Geis. Please visit Dan's
web site at: http://members.aol.com/dgeis23328/index.htm There you'll find Dan's scenery
designs and aircraft and of course, his scenery Macro's. ("Five Sets of excellent Macros")

Also, Fred Banting, not only is his aircraft my favorite for flying the Bush scenery, it's
also the same aircraft I used as static aircraft. Thanks again Fred.

:::::FILES LIST & INSTALLATION:::::

There are TWO ways to install this scenery. I prefer useing the FS98 Scenery Library.
However, the easyest way is to just copy and paste the files into FS. SEE BELOW:

Scenery BGL's

Colby98.bgl and Cob98SA.bgl---Located in Colby98/Scenery---Copy these files and Paste them
into the FS98 SCENERY folder.

Texture files

First, make sure you install all the Airport 210 textures into the FS98 Texture folder.
These textures can be downloaded free at SurClaro. Their file name is: aip210tx.zip
Then, after you've done that, Copy and Paste the textures I've included with this scenery
into the same location. FS98\TEXTURE folder.

README.1st.htm . . . . . . . . . .This is the HTML file you should be reading.

README.txt . . . . . . . . . . . .This is the File your reading now.

Pictures

Colby98-1.jpg and Colbyapt.jpg . . . . . . .Both of these are used for viewing with the
HTML file. If you remove these pictures, the HTML page won't show them either.

AND

The Source Code Files

Colby98.apt ...............As shown in the above photo. By placing the ColbyLK.apt file
into the Apt 210 folder, you'll be able to open and EDIT this scenery to your likeing. :)
You could even change the coordinates and altitude to place this same scenery in your back
yard. ! !

Cob98SA.apt ...............This file adds all the static aircraft to the scenery. Again,
opening this file with the Airport 210 program allows changeing of the scenery aircraft or
whatever you like.
