New Airport Package for the Canadian Mountain Parks Pack (cmpcanmtpks_v1.zip)

File Name: cmpcanex_v3.zip
Author: Peter Vibe
Date of Release: Feb 2005
Version: 3.00

The strip (Evans Lake Resort featuring a brick runway) included in this package, is situated in BC's beautiful Selkirk Mountains on Evans Lake (altitude 5013 ft) and is 3300 ft long. Down the valley on Slocan Lake, there is also a heliport called Evans Creek Landing, where supplies can be choppered up to the resort. I've also added some canyons and waterfalls. The Needles airstrip (CMPcanex_v2.zip) has been updated as well.

There are also 3 flight files included.

###############################

Requirements:

1) cmpcanmtpks_v1.zip
2) Holger Sandmann's EXCELLENT BC mesh (needed files explained in cmpcanmtpks_v1.zip from http://www.SurClaro.com ).
3) LAGO's FSE Demo or Full version (available at http://www.lagosim.com/default.asp?act=download&p=100049&lang=eng ).

In order to utilize this package, you will need to install cmpcanmtpks_v1.zip (available at AVSIM) as well as Holger Sandmann's fantastic BC mesh. This is LOD 9 mesh with some LOD 10 areas. This is still the best freeware mesh I've come across to date. It is also available at http://www.SurClaro.com.

Also included with this package are extra scenery files for those of you with LAGO's full FSE version.

When installing cmpcanmtpks_v1.zip:
>>> FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY! <<<
The mesh requires a few extra steps, but are well worth the effort.

The cmpcanmtpks_v1.zip readme gives clear, easy to understand installation details.

Needles Airstrip PVNA (CMPcanex_v2.zip) has been updated as well (another nearby strip I released last year for this package and just a short scenic flight away from Evans Lake). If you have previously installed this file, simply add the new files and overwrite when asked. Nothing further to do.

Other files

Recommended scenery files:

Pick up these files (at AVSIM) to add more detail to this flight area:

cycg_v1.zip ............ by Vern Opperman
4_stop_canada.zip ...... by Frank Betts
canada_short_legs.zip .. by Frank Betts
car2.zip ............... by Frank Betts

Also check out other Frank Betts sceneries. He has loads of files for a host of small airstrips in the Pacific Northwest, Alberta, BC, Yukon and Alaska. Quite a few of his files even include AI traffic to add further life to the areas. Frank's files: 4_stop_canada.zip, canada_short_legs.zip and car2.zip are all in the vicinity of my airports package. Watch for the air traffic!

Check out Holger's other excellent files as well. He has available, seaplane and boat traffic starter kits in San Francisco, with instructions to install this traffic in other locations as well (such as this scenery area). This guy really knows his stuff. Also check out his readme's. They are full of interesting info and links.

Also thanks to Lee Swordy for his AFCAD and other programs, as well as Steve Greenwood and AVSIM forums, for their contibutions, tools and info, to and for, the FS world.

Also, I would like to thank 'Cloud Master' for his time with the testing (I told you I'd mention you in this readme!).
