cf727_v2 PANEL UPDATE PACKAGE : Version 2.30

- 727kt folder : Updated FS2000 Boeing 727kt.AIR file and AIRCRAFT.cfg file with highly accurate flight dynamics for Kevin Trinkle 727-200 Models.

- 727ed folder : Updated FS2000 Boeing 727ed.AIR file and AIRCRAFT.cfg file with highly accurate flight dynamics for Everardo Diaz 727-200 Models.

- FuelBurn.xls : Microsoft Excel spreadsheet comparing fuel burn rates between an actual 727-200 and observed model fuel burn rates built into all versions of the AIR files (SEE NOTES BELOW).

- 727Digital / Analog folders : A general update of both B727 panel versions. Adds an avionics switch below the yaw damper switch (bottom-center of main panel) to correct FS2000 installations where the avionics are by default normally OFF. An updated panel bitmap is also added with the words "AVIONICS" above the switch. Updates the Fuel Panel with digital Richard Probst fuel gauges in both versions. Adds Robert K. Guy's great multi-function fuel status gauge showing range, fuel used, fuel remaining, current fuel-flow rate, airspeed, and groundspeed - all in user defined english or metric units.

- Gauges folder : Updates the fuel panel with fuel quanity digital readout (lbs/fuel remaining) for all three B727 fuel tanks. Updated 727Digital autopilot gauge is redesigned with a darker digital background for easier reading. Adds Robert Guy's multi-function fuel status gauge (SEE ABOVE).

******* UPDATING PANEL INSTALLATION *******

** !! The default Microsoft FS2000 B737-400 must be installed for the panel.cfg file to find the avionics switch !! **

** !! You must already have cf727_Version 2 Panel installed. If not, this panel can be found at SurClaro !! **

1: Unzip this Panel Update Package to a TEMP folder.

2: Determine which cf727 panel you are using (Digital or Analog)

3: Open the appropriate Panel Update Package 727Digital or 727Analog folder and install the new "CARP727.bmp", "RP727fe.bmp" and "panel.cfg" files in your panel folder - OVERWRITE ALL 3 FILES WHEN PROMPTED.

4: Open the Panel Update Package "Gauges" folder and move the 5 new gauges to the "FS2000\Gauges" folder.

NOTE: INSTALLING THE WRONG UPDATE PACKAGE TO THE WRONG PANEL (i.e.: Installing the 727Digital Update into an existing 727Analog panel installation) WILL NOT CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS. YOU WILL SIMPLY HAVE A DIGITAL OR ANALOG PANEL YOU DIDN'T INTEND TO HAVE. TO CORRECT THIS MISTAKE, JUST OPEN THE CORRECT 727DIGITAL OR ANALOG UPDATE FOLDER AND FOLLOW INSTALLATION STEPS 1 THROUGH 4 ABOVE TO OVERWRITE YOUR MISTAKE.

******* UPDATING AIR FILES AND AIRCRAFT.CFG FILES *******

** !! The Panel Update Package contains AIR file and AIRCRAFT.cfg files for Kevin Trinkle and Everardo Diaz 727-200 Models ONLY. Using these files on any other flight model may have unpredictable results !! **

** !! The AIR file and AIRCRAFT.cfg files are for 727-200 Series models only. Although it is possible to use these files on Boeing 727-100 models, it is not recommended if realistic parameters are desired.

1: Determine which Boeing 727-200 flight model you have (either Kevin Trinkle or Everardo Diaz). If you are not sure, refer to the original "readme.txt" or "file_id.diz" in the zip file where you got the B727-200. If you still cannot determine which flight model you have, you can always go to SurClaro and download any of their Boeing 727-200's by searching for "TRINKLE" or "DIAZ".

*** FOR KEVIN TRINKLE BOEING 727-200 MODELS ***

A: Open the "727kt" folder and move the Aircraft.cfg and 727kt.air file into your 727-200 Aircraft folder (Make sure these 2 files go into a 727 Aircraft folder and not into the "model", "panel", "sound", or "texture" folders!). Overwrite the Aircraft.cfg file when prompted.

*** FOR EVERARDO DIAZ BOEING 727-200 MODELS ***

A: Open the "727ed" folder and move the Aircraft.cfg and 727ed.air file into your 727-200 Aircraft folder (Make sure these 2 files go into a 727 Aircraft folder and not into the "model", "panel", "sound", or "texture" folders!). Overwrite the Aircraft.cfg file when prompted.

******* MODIFY THE AIRCRAFT.CFG FILE *******

1: After installing the updated aircraft.cfg file, double-click the aircraft.cfg file to open the file to edit. Add the name you want your 727 called as follows:

[fltsim.0]
title=Boeing 727-200 <-------- (Add the name of your aircraft here - i.e: "title=Boeing 727-223 American Airlines")
sim=727ed
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
checklists=

2: Save and close the aircraft.cfg file

******* NOTES *******

You can either delete or save the "FuelBurn.xls" MS Excel Spreadsheet file. This is provided to show model fuel burn at various altitudes and speeds compared to an actual 727-200. Actual 727-200 Fuel flow information provided courtesy of Eurocontrol Aircraft Performance Summary Tables - Revision 3.3 / December 2000.

About 50 hours of design and testing went into the building of the included AIR files. All of the critical aspects of 727-200 flight dynamics were modeled. These include, but are not limited to: proper aircraft gross weights, fuel capacities, fuel weight, proper engine thrust, drag factors, fuel burn, accurate aerodynamics, and pitch / roll / yaw rate factors.

The AIR files simulate a 727-200 Advanced at MTOW (Maximum Take Off Weight of 191,000 lbs) with 100% fuel. The 727-200 will feel a little sluggish at MTOW (as a real 727-200 does!) and will take about 8,000' of runway to get off the ground. Load only the fuel you will need to arrive at your destination, or you may arrive over the Maximum Landing Weight (about 15% total fuel capacity for each 200 nm of flight - not including reserves). In addition, landing when weight exceeds Maximum Landing Weight will cause an excessive nose-up pitch during normal approach speeds.

Originally, Everardo Diaz' 727-200 models were FS98 models. The 727ed.air file will update these 727-200's to FS2K flight dynamics, including FS2K engine start.
