Bush Flying Unlimited DHC-2 Turbo Beaver III for FS2002.
Includes Wheel model By Fred Banting. New surface textures, and repaints by Lawrance Mouat.

Design work on the Turbo Beaver II began in June 1963. Because the turbine engine was lighter than the radial, it was mounted further forward to maintain the aircrafts centre of gravity. Which also moved the cockpit forward adding an extra cabin space to the aircraft. The prototype was temporarily fitted with the fin and rudder of the Beaver II, made its first flight on 31 December 1963, flown by Bob Fowler and Jock Aitken. Production aircraft powered by the PT6A-6 engine had swept fins and rudders of the new design. Never sprightly, the Beaver gained little in perfromance from the turbine engine. Maximum speed of 170mph, added only 10mph over the Wasp radial. Rate of climb was increased however by 165ft per minute, and service ceiling by 2000ft. While the payload went up to 1,800lb.

Deliveries began in January 1965. Sixty Turbo Beaver IIIs were built; retrofit conversions of piston engine aircraft were planed, but never carried out.

Beaver I:
335-kw (450-hp) P&W R-985 Wasp jr engine.

Beaver II: (One prototype only.)
410-kw (550-hp) Alvis Leonides 502/4 engine. With larger fin and rudder.

Turbo Beaver III: (Turboprop version)
410-kw (550-shp) Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-6 engine. Lengthened fuselage, 10 seat cabin and larger fin and rudder.

A big thanks to Fred Banting who was more than happy to let me do these repaints.
I hope all you bush flying fans like them.

Cheers Fred...
