Mitsubishi G4M1 “Betty” twin engined attack aircraft.
Multi res model made with Abacus Flight Sim Design studio version2,
this model is specifically for FS9 (there is/will be a CFS2 version).
Please have a bit of patience and take time to read this next bit.

Without the help of several people, quite simply, this project would
have failed, and so I am deeply indebted for all their help.

Keeping me on the straight and narrow as regards accuracy and so earning
the title of “Head technical expert”, Betty guru and man who wouldn’t let
me get away with anything …Toru Morita aka Talos2005.( also provide the
2nd Buntai, 705 Kokutai colour scheme and the fuel management panel)

The “Betty” was a surprisingly agile aircraft with a long range. Used to
deliver a varied payload, ranging from single torpedo to multiple bombs
it’s mission were many and varied. In truth it was often sent where 4
engined bombers should have flown. To achieve this performance however
something had to be sacrificed, and that something was weight, or more
precisely armour! To this end the Betty was a very vulnerable machine,
earning the unenviable nickname of the “one stop lighter” due to the ease
in which American airmen found it would catch fire. James Banks,
aka Maggoo has spent many (and I mean many) hours trying to match the
known flying characteristics of this aircraft and I think he has done a
great job here so thanks yet again James for coming to my rescue.

Animations
This model has the usual surface animations, detailed landing gear and
working cowl flaps and also includes the following:

Co pilot directions: In use, it was common practice for the co pilot to
stand on his seat and give the pilot taxiing instructions.
This is reproduced by using SHIFT + E

Action stations can be called by using the SHIFT+E+2 combination. Watch
the crew spring in to action!

Side door and ladder. This is actioned by using whatever combination you
use for concorde nose raise and lower.

Bomb bay: The Betty didn’t have traditional opening and closing bomb bay
doors but a series of different fitted panels depending on what payload was
being carried. This model is represented with a torpedo payload that can be
seen by using the spoiler key /

Installation

Aircraft
Unzip the aircraft zip file into your flight sim AIRCRAFT folder

Gauges

I have tried where possible to stick with stock gauges that are compatible
with CFS2 and FS9. However, there are some that Microsoft haven’t bothered
with and this is where the good guys such as Mike Wagner come to the fore
and fill the gap. Mike aka Moparmike gives his time freely and many designers
have beaten a path to his electronic door … thanks Mike.
Unzip the betty_gauges zip file to your flight sim GAUGES folder
(the MAPE _Jap_4eng is an update to an earlier freeware set of Mike’s so I
suggest you overwrite with this version if you have the earlier one).

Effects
I have included a simple start up effect so put this .fx file in the EFFECTS
folder of your flight sim.

Panel/Lights
I have included a panel for the lights (SHIFT+3) and one for fuel
management(SHIFT+4). If you prefer you fuel panel in Japanese characters, simply
go into the panel.cfg file and edit the following

[Window03]
file=Fuel_Tank.bmp
//file=Fuel_Tank_J.bmp

to show

[Window03]
//file=Fuel_Tank.bmp
file=Fuel_Tank_J.bmp

Left click the fuel switch to turn on, right click to turn off
(thanks once again Toru and Mike)
The Betty didn’t have landing or taxiing lights, but did have a morse signalling
light on the top turret that you signal away with to your hearts content by using
the O key.(that's O not zero)

….and finally
