This UFO is the result of almost 2 years of experimenting with all sorts of UFO crafts on FS98, CFS2, FS2000 and FS2002 Pro. I have taken the best out of all, and put it together into the most multi-functional, versatile and fastest craft in FS2002.
I modified things to attain maximum speed of approx Mach 3.5+ near sea level and Mach 4.77 at high altitude, peak speed up to Mach 4.85+ dive. It seems that FS2002 does not allow any faster cruise speed than Mach 4.77, no matter how much thrust and how little drag, as I also found out with other airplanes. I guess this is an FS2002 limitation, but if anyone has a suggestion, please let me know. Anyway, fast enough heh.
CONSTRUCTION
This FS2002 UFO model has been put together with FS2002 GMax. Special thanks to ^Bilbo Baggins who took all the patience to help me through that stuff. I have added green lights to give a sort of holographic effect to the craft. Therefore I did not make any texture.
The panel has been created with PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, MS Photo Editor and Notepad.
The airfile has been done with AirEd and Abacus. Its content has been cloned and modiefied from a variety of other airfiles.
The aircraft.cfg has been adapted to make the UFO an amphibian and to fine tune the flight characteristics. Done with Notepad.
The sounds are taken from a variety of military and civil aircraft. I am sorry, I do not know the names of the sounds inventors.
The gauges are stock gauges and third party UFO gauges. I am sorry, I do not know the names of the gauges inventors.
The AIMAP gauge AImap.gau is copyrighted by Rodolfo Arata from Italy, and requires FSUIPC.DLL to be installed. This file is included in the installation package, to be copied in the Modules folder of FS2002. Do not overwrite if you have a newer version
COMPUTER
This UFO has been tested only in FS2002 Pro, but will most likely run in FS2002, provided that you have the stock gauges of 747-400 and Concorde (which you can copy from FS2000 by the way).
Its operation requires a joystick with rudder capability (a mUst have, because autorudder won't do good), and a 1024*768 screen resolution, 16-bit color is fine. It runs well on a 1GHz/512ram/32video machine, but less will do.
This UFO has been tested extensively for hundreds of hours with FS2002 Pro on a 1GHz/512ram machine under Win/ME & DirectX-8 and works to the perfection. It is frame friendly at most display max settings.
But better keep AutoGen at normal as for Dynamic Scenery, and to gain frame rate try keep Multi Texture and MIP Filtering OFF, and Target Frame Rate should be 15 FPS.
Total file size of this whole unzipped AlienUFO package is approx 19MB uncompressed disk space.

Too bad that FS2002 doesn't allow any space travel ... I'd luv to go a lot higher than 100,000 feet to reach the stars

I am George Philip Birney, a retired European Executive who is now teaching Business & Information Technology at international graduate schools and creating some web-sites on the side.
