Boomerang v1.1 - 8th Jan 2005

There were a few bugs in the orginal Boomerang, hence this update.

1. The manuals for the gauges I promised in the Boomerang manual are now included in
the Docs folder.

2. The included Gauges folder has been removed, and the Boomerang's gauges now reside
completely in the Panel folder.
This is due to conflicts with other 3rd party and custom gauges.

3. The Meggitt 2100 Autopilot no longer fails when the aircraft moves before the
Autopilot has initialised.
This was probably the major problem people were having with the Boomerang

4. The Boomerang's Macintosh Laptop simulation logic has been altered to avoid a
possible memory leak when playing sounds.
This bug was rare, and seemed to only occur when a cold cockpit startup scenerio
is used.

If you find the sounds annoying, you can remove them. Look in the Panel folder,
there is a txt file explaining how to disable the Mac sounds.

5. The FSSOUND,DLL module required by some of the gauges is now included for those
who don't have it.
This file needs to be placed in your ...\Flight Simulator 2004\Modules if you do
not already have it.

If you are installing this file for the first time, FS2004 will ask you to
disable this older DLL. Do NOT disable it.

Alternatively, you can edit your FS9.CFG file as follows: add the following
section to the CFG file.

[OLDMODULES]
fssound.dll=1

fs9.cfg can be found in C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application
Data\Microsoft\FS9

6. A silly error in my typing crippled the COM and NAV radios - this has been fixed!

Other errors people reported are various crashes and lockups most likely due to low memory. The Boomerang uses hi-res DXT3 textures and requires a reasonably recent PC to run. 512MB RAM and a GeForce3 card should easily handle the Boomerang. Some people found that unpacking the gauge CAB files stopped errors occuring; try this if you like - the CAB files should be unpacked into either the Panels or main Gauges folders.

The Boomerang also requires FS2004 - unfortunately it is not compatible with FS2002. (Due to the textures I think... if you know how to convert them back to DXT1 or plain BMP it might run)

Hopefully those are all the bugs. If you are still having problems, please email me at adrianesdaile@hotmail.com
