FS98 AMI Aeritalia F-104S Starfighter (9-31)

The F-104 was constructed as a dogfighter for the USAF. The plane was also chossen as the standard craft for the German Luftwaffe. 1266 different types were built over the years. The F-104S is the updated version built by Aeritalia as an all weather interceptor. It has a higher thrust engine and carries both Sidewinder and Sparrow air to air missiles. The Italian Airforce bought 205 F-104S in early '70. In 1982 Aeritalia updated to ASA and ASA-M versions 160 of the F-104S to improve their avionics.
