A340 Panel For FS9
Compiled by Alex Christoff
Thermobulb@aol.com

There are several pretty freeware A340 panels available here in the AVSIM file library, yet most all of them wreak havoc on frame rates. This panel is my answer to that problem, and will probably not appeal to those of you looking for "As real as it gets." Instead, this is a simple, and intuitively easy to use panel using many default gauges in conjunction with more advanced gauges available as freeware. Redistributed here with permission of the original authors. Original Panel Bitmaps: Andreas Jaros at FPDA. NOTE: You MUST have the FS2000 Concorde gauges installed in FS9 for this panel to display correctly. Cosult the forums for availability. Follow the instructions in the README file.

INSTALLATION:

BACK UP ALL YOUR ORIGINAL FILES / GAUGES FIRST

Unzip the PANEL.zip file into PANEL folder of the aircraft you want to use the panel
Unzip the GAUGES.zip into a temporary folder then copy and paste the .gau files into the main FS 9 directory \ GAUGES folder

IMPORTANT: Overwrite only OLDER gauge files than those provided here

Unzip the SOUND.zip into a temporary folder then copy and paste the .wav files into the main FS 9 directory \ SOUNDS folder

IMPORTANT: Overwrite only OLDER SOUND files than those provided here

Copy the .txt files from the EXTRAS folder into the Main FS 9 Folder

IMPORTANT: Edit your fs9.cfg configuration file and add the following lines: (if you don't know where your fs9.cfg is, On Windows 2000/XP systems, this is located in \Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9\FS9.cfg For Windows 9x users the path is \Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9\fs9.cfg). The Application Data folder is hidden, so you will need to enable viewing of hidden files/folders under the Folder Options in your Explorer). If you do not complete this step, you will forever be plagued byloading error messages in FS9.

[OldModules]
FSSound.dll=1

That should be it. Just reload your aircraft and ENJOY!

Disclaimer:

I use this panel frequently in my 1 GHz, 640 MB, GeForce FX 5600 128MB PC and find it to be very intuitive, stable, and frame-rate friendly. However, I assume no responsibity for lockups, crashes, or other computer anomalies or damage. Use at your own risk. Should there exist missing gauge or sound files as a result of my error, please do not hesitate to E-mail me with the problem - I'll do everything I can to remedy it. Enjoy!

Known Issues:

Occassionally, double-clicking on the RNWY INFO gauge to access the ILS database causes lock-ups on my system. Usually after extensive use of the new GPS in FS9. I have no idea why, nor do I have the slightest idea what to do about it, so please do not e-mail me to ask me how to fix this problem. I use Peter Dowson's freeware AutoSave program, available here:

http://www.schiratti.com/files/dowson/AutoSave.zip

It automatically saves your flight in 10-minute intervals so if you do crash, you can pretty much pick up where you left over, Consult his README file for further instructions.
