AFG Heads Up Guidance System
For Fs2002 and Fs2000

The AFG Heads Up Guidance System for FS2002 and FS2000 is designed for virtual
captains and real first officers who are sick of watching their captains have
all the fun. This revolutionary HUD is based on a real world Heads Up Guidance
system that is used today on Boeing 737's and regional jets. Although there are
other heads up displays, this is the first true heads up guidance system for
MSFS because it can be used by itself for all phases of flight. It is designed
for the pilot to be able to monitor important information and maintain complete
visual awareness simultaneously. Complete visual awareness is possible because
the HGS display is transparent. The pilot can see the plane's critical
information and the outside world without having to look down at the
instruments. It has special modes designed for instrument and visual approaches
so that you never have to take your eyes off the runway. There is a flight
path vector and a realistic guidance cue that is so precise, it can command a
change in the flight path as small as .04 degrees. The guidance cue was made
from scratch and was tested by an airline pilot. The guidance cue commands
LNAV (FS2k GPS), VOR, ILS, heading, and glide slope. With the flight path
vector, the pilot can predict exactly where the plane will touch down on the
runway. Other features include photo realistic graphics, a flare cue, and an
approach warning that shows if the plane is making an unsafe approach. The
AFG HGS is compatible with most panels for FS2k and FS2k2 and is preferred
over the conventional instrument panel by many real world airline pilots.
Panel.cfg files are included for the DreamFleet 737-400 panel, Richard
Probst's 737-300 panel, the default 737-400 panel for both FS2002 and fs2000,
the FS2k2 777, 747-400, and lear45 panels, and Chris Arrington's 737-400
panel as well as a few more I put in at the last minute. Panel.cfg files for
other panels will be made immediately upon request although instructions are
included so that you can make your own. A color manual for the AFG HGS is
included also.

This addon requires Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000.
Installation:
1. Unzip the file named jg_hgsa.gau into your gauges folder. There are some
modified panel.cfg files included in this zip for use with popular panels. To
install those panel.cfg's simply backup the originals and unzip the modified
version into your panels folder. If you want to modify your own panel.cfg file,
first backup your original panel.cfg file and then follow these instructions.
If you do not want to attempt a modification or if you are having trouble,
send the panel.cfg file to jon@alliedfsgroup.com and I will "install" the HGS
for you and send the custom panel.cfg file back to you. If the modified
panel.cfg file has problems, please send me an email and I will correct the
problem.
Included modified panel.cfg's for the HGS (back up your originals. Just open
them and extract):
Dreamfleet 737-400 users: Back up original panel.cfg and unzip the panel.cfg
file in DF734 archive in this zip into the
Fs2000\AIRCRAFT\Flight One 737-400\Panel folder, replacing the original file.
TO CREATE YOUR OWN CUSTOM PANEL.CFG FOR THE HGS: Unzip the bmp file to the
panel folder you want to use the HGS with.
2. Open the panel.cfg file for the panel you want to use the HGS with. Here is
an example for what you need to do from Richard Probst's panel.cfg file:
Note: Make sure your window number is 1 greater then the last window number.
Press Shift + (HGS window # + 1) to view the HGS. So for example if the HGS is
window 06,press shift + 7 view and hide it. You can also use the view menu. It
is best to hide all other panel windows before opening the HGS window.
Tip: If you want the fs2k horizon line to match up with the HGS's horizon try
messing around with VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=3.0 <--- this number. I get the best
results with 9.0 to 9.2. However, you may want to experiment with lower values
around 3.0 so you won't have to adjust your seat when looking at the main panel.
However, I use the HGS far more then I use the main panel so that is not an
issue for me ;-)
