***** Random Splash Screen for FS2002 *****
*******************************************

Thank you for downloading the Random Splash Screen Utility for FS20002 by Flight One Software and Dreamfleet.

***** INSTALLION: *****

Unzip the file and double-click the SplashScreen.exe file
Follow the directions and make sure you point the installer to the MAIN DIRECTORY of FS2002. The installer should find the correct directory for you.

***** USE: *****

Nothing could be more simple.

The installer will create a new shortcut on your desktop with the FS2002 icon. The shortcut will be named "FS2002 Splash Randomizer" Use this icon to start FS2002. It will choose one of the new splash screens available and then start FS2002. Just the same as using the default FS2002 startup shortcut, but now you will have a new splash screen randomly selected each time you start FS2002.

***** FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: *****

1. Q: Why did I get a runtime error when I tried to start using the new shortcut?
A: You MUST have the Visual Basic runtime files installed on your system for the randomizer to work. You can download the VB runtime files from many sites including Microsoft.com and SurClaro

2. Q: I only want 1 new splash screen, not a random selection each time, what do I do?
A: Simple, in your UIRES directory of FS2002, there is a new sub folder called "SplashScreens". The randomizer picks one of the screens available in this directory each time it starts, if you only want a single screen to show, delete all of the screens you do not want. Only leave the one you want in the directory, and that is all that will show.

3. Q: What happened to my original Microsoft Splash Screen?
A: The installer made a backup of this file in the UIRES directory when this product was installed (dlgsplash.bak) This will be put back in place if you ever unistall the product. If you want to get the original back without unistalling, just rename the file to a .bmp extension. REMEMBER THIS FILE WILL BE OVERWRITTEN THE NEXT TIME THE RANDOMIZER IS RUN, SO BE SURE TO KEEP THE BACKUP.

4. Q: Can I add my own splash screens?
A: YES! It is very simple and the randomizer is designed to handle 1000 different splash screens if you desire to have that many!

5. Q: Okay, how do I make a new Splash Screen?
A: Again, pretty simple. Just take a screen shot or find a nice picture you would like to see on startup. Make sure that it is saved at an 800x600 pixel bitmap (.bmp) file. It must be a 16-bit (555 format) .bmp file so you will need to use either Imagetool.exe (avilable from Microsoft) or DXTbmp (available from Martin Wright) to format the file to 16-bit (555).

6. Q: I have created my new Splash Screen, now what do I do?
A: Place the new image in the UIRES\SplashScreens directory of FS2002 and the randomizer will now be able to select it when you start up FS2002 using the randomizer's icon.

7. Q: I really like my new Splash Screen and I want to share it with others, how can I do that?
A: Package it up and upload it to one of the many great FS freeware sights (SurClaro, SurClaro.com, etc..)

8. Q: Do you provide tech support for the randomizer?
A: No, this is such a simple product you should not need any :-) If you do have a question head over to the Dreamfleet forum (www.dreamfleet2000.com) and post a question there. People will jump in and help you. We can not provide email or phone based support for this product at all.
