Really good plane. Wish it had ATC, though.

I have FS 2004 and the first thing you will need is the file to correct the cg. Although this has been mentioned before, I would like to give you the exact address so you can go there right form here:
www.simviation.com/fs2004props43.htm
Look for the file named:
FS2004 Piper Arrow III Update
This file's size is only 5k so even if you have dial-up (which I do), it will instantly be downloaded. Once you have downloaded both then the first thing to do is put the "Aircraft" updated file into this one. Then just follow the directions for this download and away you go.
Now, as far as this download goes I give this a "10" simply because of everything this aircraft offers. Beyond the looks of an airplane I want to see how she flies, can I control it, is it worth the download?
I don't fly as a real pilot but here is what I feel:
Taxiing is smooth and it doesn't require a lot of effort to keep it on the centerline. The engine is stronger than a Cessna (or at least it felt like it here). Take Off happens what seems like instantly and reaching altitude is a nice gentle ride up. The control serface is very responsive and turning is almost like flying a fighter. (Don't miss read this, Fighters are designed to be naturally unstable, this aircraft is very stable.)
Lining up for landing is as effortless and Approach and Touchdown are all nice and easy.
All-in-all I can't think of any reason why not to download this very fine example of an aircraft. The effort that goes into designing an aircraft is challenging on its own. To do it right is even better. I would love to see other examples from this author.

This add-on is amazing!!! I love the views out the windows and the detail of the body. The best thing would be if you could see the stroboscopes flashing on the wings. Anyway, I love it!!! Good job. I give it a 10.

A fantastic Aircraft
I flew the real thing in Western Australia but now I live in Hobart Tasmania I can only hire a 172 so I miss the constant speed and retractable Arrow.
Well done and thank you I took it for a fly around Hobart, had a great time.
Incidently the arrow will lower the gear automatically when the speed drops below 90kts with a visual override and audible tone for those times you are operating the a/c below 90kts

This will not work in ACOF, or FS9. The AIR file is wrong and it crashes on takeoff.

I give it a 5 only because it is for 2002, I tried in 2004 looks great, no sound, won't take off, as soon as I pull back it stalls and will not quite. Finish is excellent, all the way round, oh well can't have everything.

Very excellent and well put togather! Very nice try with the vertual cockpit... better then other add-ons! However very sensitive model to control (jerky) and same when trying to land with power cut! Otherwise B+ Nice Work!

Very good! Lot's of detail went into this bird. Great Virt and other things; doors, lights, etc.
(even Pilot's )
I do not know how the real plane flys, but this Arrow is very nervous.

It's good to go on FS 2002 (standard). Takes off, flys and lands like a well mannered little prop plane. 1st class job. You can make the yoke disappear and feel right at home with your stick.

This is a very good plane. However there is no map button on the cockpit which is compensatable yet annoying. Also, i can't tune the radios by clicking on the radio on the cockpit.

I downloaded this plane sometime ago. It is a very nice model with a good panel. I don't use it however because the frame rates are incredibly slow if you you are useing a computer with a 64MB memory. I don't know how much RAM would be needed to make it have a quicker frame rate. Download at your own discresion. This was the first real airplane I ever flew at Midway airport near Waxahachie Texas.

I was a student on a Cessna 125 & 150, however another student tore the wing of one off on the wing of the other; result... no more flight training. However have always loved clean cut, sharp looking prop jobs. I love the look of the Arrow here. Have FS98, but if had 2002 would fly this baby. Looks like skim the clouds like salmon on their way to spawn. You get my vote. |
