The Breda 65 pioneered and developed the doctrine which would soon be known as 'blitzkrieg'. The Breda 65 flew combat missions over Spain with the 'Aviazione Legionaria' from August 1937. The exceptionally fast Ba.65 A.80 with a new engine, more powerful supercharger, a constant speed airscrew and a slatted wing, featured in this flight simulation release, made its combat debut in Spain during October 1938. However by September 1939 even the Fiat A.80 engined Ba.65 was judged inadequate for combat in Europe and surviving Regia Aeronautica Ba.65s were quickly relegated to Libya, where they were mostly squandered providing close air support for the Italian Army between June 1940 and January 1941. The final Ba.65 combat missions were flown by the mutinous Iraqi Air Force in support of the French and German funded Islamic insurgency of April/May 1941. For use by other air forces see the supplied Comparative history.txt in the 'Read before flight' folder.
WARNING - This is a complex flight simulation package which after installation requires you to select a model of the Ba 65 with appropriate weapon systems and arming protocols for those weapon systems. Read carefully and retain the following instructions or you will struggle to control what happens during subsequent simulation.
This release provides three different MDLs, each of which has a different combat mission capability. *They only become available for selection after you open the 'aircraft model' menu*. After installation you will have three types of Ba 65;
1) With internal *bomb chutes* and bomb bay doors - for medium level area bombing missions
2) With internal grenade / mine / incendiary *dispensers* and fixed bay covers for ultra low level precision lay down attacks
3) As (2) above with wing *pylons* added by squadrons in the field to permit high angle precision bombing missions
Inside MSFS each of the three *Aircraft models* then has *Variations* which are different camouflage and markings appropriate to a given location and date. *They will be listed in date order, but only if you open the variations menu*. You will have ten choices, but first you must select the *model* of Ba 65 needed to fly the type of mission you intend to undertake, and only then choose a suitable *variation* whose markings match your chosen theatre of war and date.
Flying an area bombing mission requires a Ba 65 with internal bomb chutes and opening bay doors, while precision bombing requires an aeroplane with wing pylons and the drag of external bombs during the high angle attack.
WARNING - *After selecting a Ba 65 with underwing pylons *you* must load and drop any underwing bombs (and their associated profile drag) using the MSFS spoiler key*.
Each MDL has a very highly detailed virtual cockpit, each featuring many moving and fully operable parts. Controls to open bomb bay doors will not work if you selected a model of Ba 65 which has no bay doors and weapon arming and release switches will not work, or may even be absent, if you have chosen a model of Ba 65 which lacks that weapon system. Some VC systems in this simulation have no back up keyboard assignments. They extend the capability of MSFS beyond its retail capability.
This highly detailed simulation package is VC only to maximise realism and to promote the acquisition of realistic combat and non combat VFR parallax compliance skills explained and fully illustrated within 'How to survive flying the Ba 65.htm' within the 'Read before flight' folder.
1) Unzip the file 'ba65_v01.ZIP' to a temporary folder.
2) MOVE the Breda Ba.65_MVG' *folder* into your FS9 "Aircraft" (or 'Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes') folder.
3) Now in the 'Breda Ba.65_MVG' folder LOCATE the folder named 'common_textures_to copy_to_all_txts_folders'.
COPY the *contents* into each and every texture folder. Do NOT move or discard the common textures. If you download skins in the future you will need to add the same bitmaps to those later texture folders.
4) MOVE the *contents* of the 'Gauges' folder to the FS9/FSX "Gauges" folder.
5) MOVE the *contents* of the 'Effects' folder to the FS9/FSX "Effects" folder.
6) MOVE the *contents* of the 'Sounds'folder to the FS9/FSX "Sound" folder.
7) By default the lights will be MS default lights. Within the aircraft.cfg if you have the payware Shockwawe/A2A 3Dlights Redux, delete the original [lights] section and 'uncomment' the optional Shockwave driver code.
We wish you many months of pleasure investigating the capabilities and limitations of the Breda Ba.65 A.80 while you learn about and experience the real world head up flying skills of 'pilotage' in a highly detailed and realistically functional virtual environment.

NOTES and TIPS
1 - This is an FS9 release. FSX use will not be 'supported'. You must fix any issues arising from differing FSX service pack update status. However in general terms this release 'seems to work without problems' in 'appropriatly updated versions of FSX' under both Windows XP and Windows Vista.
NOT TESTED WITH FSX ACCELERATION or WINDOWS 7.
2 - As in all Italian aircraft of the time full throttle is full aft and ground idle is full forward. See 'How to survive flying the Breda Ba 65.htm in the 'Read before flight folder' for a full explanation of all the gauges, controls, systems, Italian language legends and operating procedures.
3 - On screen handling notes which abbreviate and sequence the skills and operating targets explained and illustrated in the tutorials are available by pressing F10, (or the kneeboard VC icon), and selecting the lowest icon in the kneeboard.
4 - A 2D pop up GPS cheat mode window has been made available, but we strongly encourage you to use the Ba 65 to learn the real world head up flying skills of 'pilotage' explained and illustrated in the tutorial 'How to survive flying the Ba 65.htm' in the Read before flight folder. The real Ba 65 had no navigation equipment of any kind and none is needed in MSFS either once the skill of pilotage has been learned. If you make the effort to incorporate all of the realism options explained and illustrated in the tutorials this release may change the whole way you use your flight simulator!
