W-73, the Mid-Atlantic Soaring Center in Fairfield Pennsylvania is number 47 in the PAMDVA FSSE scenery series. It is a small General Aviation airport and is used as a base for the Mid-Atlantic Soaring Club along with a nearby secondary base, KFDK (also in the PAMDVA series and is included in PAMDVAV3.ZIP available on www.SurClaro.com). This scenery includes a thermal BGL by Max Roodveldt that will enable the user to soar many miles away over the Maryland/Pennsylvania countryside. I have also included the project files in case you would like to make your own thermal BGL (in the folder "thermiek") using Max's really cool thermal generator, Thermiek. Its VERY easy to use and can be found on his web site as noted above. Other add ons that will optimize this scenery package are FSGenesis' US Landclass Project (the freeware version or the payware version will work fine and can be found on www.FSGenesis.com) and Lennart Arvidssons Northern European Ground Textures which fit this area well (available at http://www.flightsim.no/cgi-bin/file/download.cgi?ID=1789). BOTH are HIGHLY recommended if you want this scenery to look exactly as it is in the screenshots. If not, you may have to move some of the scenery around to make it look correct, in particular the scenery surrounding the airport. This scenery is also set for default mesh so if you use an add on you may have to alter the height of some objects. Other files in this series are, PAMDVAV3.ZIP, KROA.ZIP, KLYH.ZIP, and KSHD.ZIP, all available on SurClaro.com.

INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT! You MUST have Lago's FSSE, Version 1.51, installed in order to view this scenery. If you have just the demo program or a lower level FSSE you will get errors that say "Scenery Object Not Found" as these sceneries use objects from 1.51 (the latest as of this writing) release. If you don't have FSSE its a wonderful little program that allows you to place scenery objects into Flight Simulator without all the compiling decompiling. You simply select an object, and then place it in the scenery while using the external view in Flight Simulator. It is true "what you see is what you get" :-) You must also have Lago's FSSS installed (registered version) in order to hear the sounds.....

1) Unzip the W73.zip file to a temporary directory.

2) Copy the *.SE1 file into your LAGO/FSSE/SCN folder.

3) Copy the Lauren_01_a.bgl file to your addon scenery/scenery folder.

4) Copy the W73 Fairfield PA.CFG file to your FS2002?LAGO/FSSS/soundcolls folder if you have Lago's FSSS installed. Caution, I use many non default sound effects so you will also need to download the PAMDVASFXLIB.ZIP in order to hear all the sounds.

5) Go flying! Thats it! :-)
